First of all i would like to wish everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR. May this year 2008 brings happiness and joy to everyone. May everyone stay in Chardi Kala and may Guruji bless us all with Gursikhi Jiwan.

Ok to start out the New Year, as one of my favourite hobbies is watching movies, i really love watching movies. The movie that i will be anticipating this year is MEET THE SPARTANS. Watch the preview below.

Last time the Epic Movie came out, had a good laugh in the cinema with my friends. Cant wait to watch this one.

Missing all the Fun...

As everyone is having fun there in Samelan, i am as usual stuck here suffering with my college exams. Hmmm, what a test Guru Maharaj put me into. As the others, Samelan is the most anticipated event for the Malaysian during the end of the year. But slack my exams is during the samelan time and i can go for 2days only..

But yesterday (Day 0) i got a chance to attend the Samelan as i was performing and had some work to do. The Samelan was just havoc, as the Darbar Sahib is just excellent and beautifully decorated. A very well job done by the Sangat of Klang. The opening ceremony was also superb with the SIKH REMP-IT, and the Myvi Cars( there were about 15 Myvi Cars, and all were droven by the ladies, that means this shows that most of the ladies in Klang drive Myvi).

The first IPS at night was just out of the world with Giani Sarinder doing the Theme Shabad and Baba Man Mat Varo. It was an uplifting IPS.

Then came the sad part where i had to leave the Samelan ground to go back, it was a very sad thing for me, but never mind, as the others say there is always a next year.

Ok got to go, must go and study now, got alot to study, as i am playful person, always last minute only. lol

Bhagat Dhanna Jee

(Long Story but it is an eye opener for me)
Bhai Dhanna jee was a simple hearted farmer.
One day, Bhai Dhanna jee was passing a pundit's house who was feeding his thakur - a stone idol. Bhai Dhanna jee was quite perplexed by this. So Bhai Dhanna jee asked the pundit, "What are you doing?"

The pundit was kind of hungry and wanted to get this feeding over as soon as possible and really wasn't in a mood for Bhai Dhanna jee's simple inquiries.
He replied, "Oh, nothing, just feeding my thakur. Now if you will excuse me..."

Bhai Dhanna jee found that incredibly funny, "What use is feeding a stone?"
Pundit, "That is not a stone, it is God."
"Really?! What does God give you if you feed it?"
Pundit: "Everything. Now, I really must ask you to leave..."

Bhai Dhanna jee liked this idea of giving a little food and getting back everything. So Bhai Dhanna jee asked the pundit if he could also have a thakur.
At this time, the pundit's stomach was audibly complaining about lack of food. So he hastily picked up the nearest stone off the ground and said, "Here. First feed it, then you eat. Goodbye."
Saying that the pundit dived into the food left over by thakur. Bhai Dhanna jee held the stone closely and hurried home.

As soon as Bhai Dhanna jee got home, Bhai Dhanna jee cooked the best meal - saag and makkee di roti for dinner. He placed it in front of thakur and said, "Here thakur jee, please eat. Afterwards, I want to discuss many things with you. I need a new cow for example, but for now, please eat."
Saying that Bhai Dhanna jee sat in front of thakur and waited. And waited. And waited.
After a while, Bhai Dhanna jee said, "Look thakur, I really have no time for your play. Come and eat at
once! I have many chores to do."
After several hours, Bhai Dhanna jee was thinking that perhaps thakur jee was annoyed at him. So Bhai
Dhanna jee tried to persuade thakur jee to forgive him: "Look here thakur, I haven't eaten in a while.
Now it is entirely possible that I have done something to annoy you but believe you me, we can discuss this much better after this saag and makkee dee roti is in our stomachs."
Slowly the night deepened. Bhai Dhanna jee said, "Look thakur, I have one nerve left and you are
dancing on it. Either eat your food or I will....", Bhai Dhanna jee couldn't really think of anything so he just stomped his foot in anger.

Pretty soon, it became daylight. Now Bhai Dhanna jee was quite disoriented. Sometimes Bhai Dhanna jee would curse thakur, sometimes Bhai Dhanna jee would hug thakur and sometimes Bhai Dhanna jee
would starting crying.

Two long and hungry nights passed in this manner. Then at amrit vela on the third day, when Bhai Dhanna jee was too weak to curse any more, Waheguru jee decided to do the thing Waheguru jee does best - play.
Waheguru jee appeared inside the stone. It was the most beautiful body of a young man. Bhai Dhanna lost all his anger and just gaped at Waheguru jee.
Waheguru jee stepped out of the stone and said, "Bhai Dhanna jee, sorry, I am late - had to deal with a couple of universe creations - but would you be kind enough to warm up this saag and makkee dee roti.

How did you know that this is my favourite food?"
Bhai Dhanna jee, keeping one eye on Waheguru jee, warmed up the saag and presented it to Waheguru jee. Waheguru jee joyfully ate and fed Bhai Dhanna jee too.
It was daylight by then. Bhai Dhanna jee said, "Look thakur jee, I am tired - I haven't slept for 2 nights - and all I can think of is bed. You, on the other hand, haven't done much. How exhausting is sitting in that stone anyways? So if you don't mind, would you feed the cows while I take a short nap?"

Waheguru jee really didn't have a choice. So he did all the farm chores.
When Bhai Dhanna jee woke up, Waheguru jee had prepared lassi for Bhai Dhanna jee. Bhai Dhanna jee drank and said, "You know, thakur, you are just too good. I don't know why but I feel so close to you. You feel like my best friend. Now lets go and work on the farm."
Saying that, Bhai Dhanna jee put his arms around Waheguru jee and went to the farm.
Bhai Dhanna jee fell head over heels in love with Waheguru jee. He couldn't resist being with Waheguru jee. They spent the next few days literally arm in arm. Even at night, Bhai Dhanna jee would hold Waheguru jee's hand and listen to Waheguru jee songs - Waheguru jee sang a lot - and would drift off to sleep.
A week later, the pundit was passing Bhai Dhanna jee's hut. Bhai Dhanna jee saw him and ran to him and said, "Oh, pundit jee, you wonderful man, thank you so much for that thakur..."
Pundit, "What??? Oh, yeah, sure, anytime. Look, I am in a hurry. I am going to the conference KPPARR (Keeping Poor Poor And Rich Rich)."

Bhai Dhanna jee: "But please come and drink some lassi. Thakur jee makes the best lassi."
Pundit: "What now? Thakur jee makes something?"
Bhai Dhanna jee: "Oh, the best stuff. Look at him, how beautiful he is."
Pundit jee looked and indeed some was pushing the cows on the farm. And yet there was nobody to be seen.
Pundit jee: "Who is that?"
Bhai Dhanna jee: "Why, that is thakur jee, of course. Oh, you should hear him sing..."
Pundit jee was quited intrigued by now. And repeatedly asked Bhai Dhanna jee about Thakur jee.
After a while Bhai Dhanna jee realized that Pundit could not see Thakur jee. Bhai Dhanna jee promised that he would talk to Thakur jee about this.
The pundit left. Bhai Dhanna jee went to Waheguru jee and said, "Thakur jee, how come pundit jee can't see you?"

Waheguru jee: "The pundit jee really doesn't want to see me. He is more interested in my maid - Maya."
Bhai Dhanna jee: "But I don't understand. How can one see you?"
Waheguru jee: "One has to become pure. And in this age, Dhanna jee, the only way to become pure is by reciting naam."
Bhai Dhanna jee: "Naam?"
Waheguru jee: "Naam is the magic of this age. Even a few minutes of naam will bring the magic that is needed to see me."
Bhai Dhanna jee: "But, I haven't recited naam. How come I can see you?"
Waheguru jee, at that point, touched Bhai Dhanna jee's forehead. Bhai Dhanna jee's surat went inside.
Inside he saw that he, Bhai Dhanna jee, had done heavy tapasaya for over 100 lifetimes. He had stood
in water all night and in the hot sun all day. He had hung upside down for several lifetimes. He had been a celibate in one lifetime and a moni (ones who don't talk) in another. But he had progressed spiritually very little.
Then in his previous life, he had met an adept guru who had given him naam. And by doing naam for just one lifetime, Bhai Dhanna jee had become pure.

Seeing Waheguru jee was the reward for his naam from previous life.
Bhai Dhanna jee fell at Waheguru jee's feet and cried. Saying, "Please forgive this fool, I treated you as an equal..."
Waheguru jee picked him and held him close, singing songs of comfort, "Bhai Dhanna jee, now the time is right to leave. The way you see me now is the superficial way of meeting me. The real way is inside. Now you must start naam again and then I will meet you inside."
Saying that Waheguru jee vanished into thin air. Bhai Dhanna jee was enlightened now, else he would cursed Waheguru jee. Immediately he started naam with each breath.
Within days, Bhai Dhanna jee met Waheguru jee in Waheguru jee's real form - the formless one - inside.

Moral :
God is within us all and pervades throughout his creation (there is universe beyond universe...Japji Sahib). So if we want vision of God then we need to meditate on his name (he has innumerable names, as told to us by Guru Gobind Singh Ji). It is important to note that God DOES NOT take any form, but for our purpose he can give us a vision in any form. For example, Waheguru was inside the young man as much as he was inside bhai Dhanna but for Bhai Dhanna's experience, God spoke through the young man. Guru Granth Sahib tells us that in Sach Khand, where the light of God dwells, blessed saints merge with God (as Guru Gobind Singh Ji did in his previous incarnation). Therefore when a christian wants to "see God" he may get vision of Jesus, a Muslim that of Mohammed and so on. If you vision God as a radiant light which pervades throughout the universe, then if you are blessed this may be the vision you will see. An important concept in Sikhism is that God does not take form (Guru Grnath Sahib and Dasam Granth), he is formless and pervades throught his creation.

One day as usual i went to Sabha House for a cleaning up session. When i went there, only all of them had started the work and they were all laughing at me. I was wondering why.
Then Navjeet showed me this picture on the notice board and it was my picture when i was small in a samelan. All of them started saying to me, Last time so cute, now like a devil only.. hehe.

Sharda in doing Sewa

This is during the time when Amritdhari Gursikhs were very rare, when people would stand aside and bow upon seeing an Amritdhari Gursikh.Sikhi was very alive in the Indian army gursikhs. Taksal was almost never heard of outside of Punjab but it was in chardee kala unlike today. Taksal had a very strict rule. Jatha would never go to anyone's house uninvited.

Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji was once invited by someone to have"jall paani". So Sant Ji went with jatha of few gursikhs. The family was very religious so they did seva with pure heart. Sant Ji said the jatha will have smundar (milk) and then they will leave. So they put milk on the gas and after few minutes one girl put salt in the milk instead of sugar. No one knew about it. They served the milk to everyone. Sant Ji and all the singhs drank the milk, one singh did ardaas. No one complained, no singh was upset. The jatha left.

After couple of minutes, one of the family members tasted the milk and could not even get one sip down his throat. All the family members ran after Sant Ji, caught up and asked for forgiveness. Sant Ji asked "why are you asking for forgiveness?" The eldest man said,"Sant Ji, one girl mistakenly put the salt in the milk. Please forgive us." Sant Ji said, "I did not taste any salt.

The milk was very sweet."The man said, "how can that be? There was too much salt in it." Sant Jireplied, "Your seva made it sweet. Jatha came to your house because ofyour love not milk." Then the jatha left.

Lesson: It is important to do sewa full with Sharda/Humbelness and dont do much talking and do sewa by doing Simran.

In Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Amardas Ji says,

Satgur Keee Sewa Sefal Hai Jay Ko Keray Chit Laa-ay

Fruitful is service to the True Guru, if one does it with a sincere mind.

Gurgadhi Dihara Programme

Guru Nanak Dev Ji Avtar Dihara Celebration at Titiwangsa

Last weekend was the Avtar Dihara of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Many of you all might have attended the programmes organised by the Gurdwaras nearby you and join in the sewa, kirtan, path and the celebration.

I also got the opportunity to go to Titiwangsa Gurdwara as there was Akhand Path going on there, starting from Friday till Sunday.

On Friday and Saturday night, there was Kirtan Darbar also held there. On friday it was a Raag Style kirtan Darbar. Kirtan was done by Bhai Tirlochan Singh, Bhai Gurmukh Singh and many other ragi Jatha.

Kal Taran Gur Nanak Aaya.

On Saturday, it was AKJ style of kirtan. First we were blessed to have Bhai Beer Singh(side waja for Bhai Manpreet Singh Kanpur) to do kirtan. It was very havoc. He did the famous shabad of Bhai Manpreet Singh = Nehi Chodo Rey Baba Raam Naam. His kirtan cd is available at Sabha Shoppe. Grab your copy fast. Had his video but accidently deleted.

Then it was the local jatha with Harjas Kirtani Jatha with Deybu and then followed by Sabha Logistic Jatha with Sukhvin. They both did it Ghajkay. Watch the video below, by Sukhvin.

DIVALI or BANDI CHHOR DIVAS ?

“Where there is light of knowledge, ignorance is dispelled.” (Guru Granth Sahib p.791)

Each year, Sikhs are reminded of their great past by festivals like Bandi Chhor Divas. Yet the darkness of ignorance continues to prevail.Bandi Chhor Divas has a very different meaning in the Sikh tradition than the Indian Hindu festival of Divali. The day should remind the Sikhs of Guru Hargobind Ji’s miri objective of “liberation” as a human goal. Sikh freedom struggle of the 18th Century, the great sacrifices made by Sikh freedom fighters including the shaheedi (martyrdom) of Bhai Mani Singh Ji, to keep the flame of freedom from oppression alight in the hearts of the people of Panjab, are associated with this day.

Yet, sadly, the “light of knowledge” has not dispelled the darkness of myths in the minds of many Sikhs. For the Sikhs, Bandi Chhor Divas does not mark the return of some mythological son of King Dasrath, returning from exile having killed the demon King Ravan and freeing his wife Sita from his clutches (only to send the lady back to banobaas (exile) again!). Sikh preachers, steeped in Brahmanic lore and more concerned with generous chrravas (donations) on the day, continue to tell myths associated with the misty past rather than recite Sikh history made in the full glare of the New Age.

Bandi Chhor Divas tells the story of the Sikh struggle for freedom. The new egalitarian Sikh ideology was seen as a threat by both, Islam and Hinduism for different reasons. Following the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Guru Hargobind Ji was imprisoned at the famous fort of Gwalior by Emperor Jahangir but released following pleas from some influential people in October, 1619. Jahangir even agreed to Guru Ji’s pre-condition that fifty two rajahs in captivity at Gwalior should also be freed at the same time. Thenceforth the Guru became known popularly as the “Bandi Chhor” (The Liberator). When He arrived at Darbar Sahib lamps were lit. Thenceforth, the Sikh struggle for freedom, which intensified in the 18th Century, came to be centred around this day. Another important Sikh event associated with Bandi Chhor Divas is the martyrdom in 1734 of the elderly Sikh scholar and strategist Bhai Mani Singh, the Granthi of Harmandar Sahib. He had refused to pay a special tax on a religious meeting of the Khalsa on the Divali day. Bhai Mani Singh’s and other Sikh martyrdoms gave further momentum to the Khalsa struggle for freedom and eventually success in establishing the Khalsa rule north of Delhi.

Some time in December 2007, some 1500 participants and sewadars from around the globe will come together in a small town in Malaysia called Klang. It will be the time of the year when we all recharge ourselves with the Guru's message.

This is a global event which is eagerly awaited by Sikhs from around the globe. It is about time we reveal to you the key to a successful Samelan. The first Samelan was held at the sea-side town of Port Dickson in 1963 and has been running successfully for the past 43 years. Almost every Sikh in Malaysia has been a part of the Samelan one way or another. It is time we reveal the key of a successful Samelan. Something special has been arranged for the global audience who are unable to attend the Samelan on a daily basis and for Sikhs around the global who cannot attend the Samelan. It will be our very own daily live coverage from ground zero.

Gunung Nuang Hiking

After weeks of planning, we finally got a team of guys ready to go to gunung nuang. It is located around 45 minutes drive from the heart of Kuala Lumpur. We met in sabha house at 1.30p.m. on a Saturday noon and headed for kampung pandan Gurdwara. That’s where we met a few others before heading towards the entrance of the reserve forest. There was much laughter in the van as we were heading to the park. Each of us reminding each other of what are the things we need and don’t need for the trip. Once we got there, we got the food and other things which each of us need to carry in our bags and packed all our stuff. The group consists people from all ages, from as old as 52 and as young as 7. Most of us were teenagers looking for an adventure.

Once ready, we stretched ourselves before doing an ardas. Once ardas was done, all of us were instructed by Veer Wajinder and Baldev Singh about the ground rules of being in the jungle. Then we introduced ourselves to each other and started our journey. The walk was uphill with no tree roots to hold on to as it was a road path we were walking on for the first 8 kilometers. Then once we reached near the river, we walked into the jungle and headed uphill by the river, crossing the river 4 times before reaching to our campsite. It took us 2 hours plus to get to our campsite. Once at the campsite, we made the camps. Then helped Veer Baldev with the cooking. Cut the vegetables. Once done we took a shower in the river, though the water was freezing cold, some of us behaved like heroes and jumped in and out of the water. Once done, we sat together and recited Rehraas Sahib together. Once done with Rehras and Ardas, we had dinner together and started sharing some thoughts together. We headed for bed as early as 930. Some of us started talking away and the rest slept off. Slowly one by one dozed off.

Our Hero, Baldev Singh trying to show his skills with the "Karchi" to Indy and Thasy in order for them to start cooking for the next trip. But unfortunately both ended up burning their fingers, so Baldev volunteered for next year as well as there is no one capable of taking over such a huge responsibility.

I saw the cameraman tilting the camera, so i decided to go along with it. But ended up he played my back.

All of us got up early the next morning, getting ready for the adventure. Took bath and got ready. Recited Jap ji Sahib Paath together. Had breakfast and then did ardas together before leaving for the peak of gunung nuang. We had one last briefing before we left and made Ajit Singh the commander of the day. And Navjeet Singh became the anchor man. A commanders duty is to lead the path of the journey and an anchor mans duty is to be the last man and make sure no one is left behind.

The journey up was fascinating. It rained the night before so the path was wet and slippery. We walked carefully hoping not to slip and fall. At times we did slip and sprained ourselves but helped each other along the path up the hill. The journey was to climb up a hill then go down that hill and then head all the way up again to gunung nuang. It took us almost 4 hours for the first person to reach up and 4 hours and 45 minutes for the last person to come up. Had lunch together up there and sat there for an hour before heading back down.

The journey down was a lot faster as we didn’t need to stop much for breaks and could straight walk out. Only some places slowed us down because of the huge steps we had to take. Some of us got tired so we decided to go in a group as water was already limited a bit and it was raining making the path quite slippery. It took us 2 hours plus to get back to our campsite. Once back there, we took a quick bath as it was about to rain and packed our stuff as well as tents and other things. Making sure not to leave any dirt behind and headed down back to the entrance of the forest. Talked and sang shabads along the path to keep us moving and hoping the rain would slow down which it eventually did. Reached at the entrance by 6 and got into dry clothes before saying goodbye to each other and headed back to sabha house to depart home. It was an adventurous journey with a lot to learn and share about.

Gurgaddi Dihara of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

October 20th marks the Gurgaddi Dihara of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, when the Tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaaj rested Guru-ship in the eternal Guru of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Lets all of us say, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj 5 Times
and lets make an effort together in learning and understanding the bani well.

Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

The Guru Granth Sahib became the Guru of the Sikhs and successor to Guru Gobind Singh on October 1708, when the 10th Guru made Sri Guru Granth Sahib the 11th and final eternal Guru.

The Guru Granth Sahib was compiled by Guru Arjan and Guru Gobind Singh.

The Adi Granth is often used to refer to the Guru Granth Sahib. The Adi Granth is actually the original composition of the Guru Granth Sahib which Guru Arjan compiled in 1604. This term is often used interchangeably so it is important to note the context within which it is used.

The Granth was made a living guru by the last of the living Gurus, Guru Gobind Singh in 1708. Guru Gobind Singh said before his demise that the Sikhs were to treat the Granth as their next Guru.

How Did Guru Gobind Singh Ji pass the Guruship

Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last of the Sikh Gurus to take human form, dictated the entire Granth Sahib at Talwandi Sabo now called Damdama Sahib. Dhir Mal, the son of Baba Gurditta and grandson of Guru Hargobind, had taken possession of the Adi Granth; he refused to give it to Guru Gobind Singh when the Guru asked for it. Dhir Mal taunted the Guru, "If you are a Guru, then prepare your own."

Guru Gobind Singh proceeded to dictate it to Bhai Mani Singh, who recorded it on paper. While some have questioned the authenticity of this story, it is well for us to remember that, of course, Guru Gobind Singh was no ordinary person at all. And, in the old days of bards and story-tellers, it was not unusual for them to recite from memory entire epic poems such as the Iliad and the Odyssey. Guru Gobind Singh included the Shabads of his father, Guru Teg Bahadur, but he did not include his own Shabads; instead, he placed them in a separate Granth, the Dasam Granth. The Dasam Granth is not revered as Guru, however. The great task of re-writing the entire Guru was finally completed in 1705. The "Damdama Sahib Bir" as it is now called was then taken to Nanded where it was installed.

Guru Gobind Singh installed this expanded version of Adi Granth as Guru on October 20, l708. This day is celebrated today as Guru Gadi Day. At the time of his death, he declared that the Word of God embodied in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib was to be Guru for all time.

He said, "O Beloved Khalsa, let any who desire to behold me, behold the Guru Granth. Obey the Granth Sahib, for it is the visible body of the Guru. Let any who desire to meet me, diligently search its Bani." Thus the Word of God, which has manifested as Guru in Nanak, and had passed through the ten incarnations of Guru, was now returned to its form as the Word, the Bani, the Shabad.

I went to PJ Gurdwara yesterday i got this leaflet that was being distributed to the sangat. It is a very nice and interesting facts from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. When i read this, I went like.. WOWWWWW!!!

Moon Has No Light Of Its Own
In 1564, Galileo proved that the moon did not have light of its own and that it reflected the light from the sun.

The Sikh Gurus had already stated this fact:
"Sun Lights up the Moon"
(SGGS page 329)

The principal within the atom is similar to that of the solar system.
Within electrons are revolving around the nucleus just like the nine planets in our solar system is going around the sun.

The Sikh Gurus have highlighted this fact umpteen times:
"Whatever is in the cosmos is also found within the body. He who explores can know this fact."
(SGGS page 695)

"Whatever is in the universe is also in the atom (smallest part of matter)."
(SGGS page 1040)

Life via Air
One of the most important things created by God is air, which became the source of life. In 1960, a scientiest named Robert Hooke proved that "Air is essential for respiration and that there is no substitute for it".

This fact was revealed by the Sikh Gurus years earlier at various places in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
"Born of Water, Life Sustained by Air"
(SGGS page 884)

Life trough water
Today scientist have established that the main constituent of life is cytoplasm, which is made of 80% water. They also discovered that hydrogen and oxygen gases in the air combine to form water and life emerged from water about 350million years ago. In 1784, Henry Cavendish proved that water was a compound of two parts of hydrogen and one part of oxygen.

The Sikh Gurus had already unveiled this fact that water is a compound and it transforms itself from air and this whole living world is dependent on water.
"From the lord came the air, and from the air came water. From water He created the three worlds- life in water, on earth and in air; in each and every heart He infused His divine light."
(SGGS page 19)

Everything Including All Planets is Rotating
Scientists today have come to the conclusion that nothing is static in the universe. The whole universe is always on the move. All planets, stars and galaxies move in space.

Unknown to the western scientist, Guru Nanak had unveiled this fact before Galileo and Giordano and further declared that everything in the universe is in motion.
"The sun and the moon obey HIS law. They move billions of miles and never stop moving."
(SGGS page 464)

"The Lord binds us in the Bondage of motion and everything is in motion without end."
(SGGS page 465)

Michael Scofield is BACK...

I was jumping with joy when Ajeet told me this. Prison Break is my favourite drama series that i love to watch weekly. Its full with thrillers and some new interesting stuff that makes you want to watch the next episode. The storyline is just damm good.

In the first season, Michael Scolfield gets into the prison on purpose to help his brother who was blamed for the murder that he never did to escape. He puts the whole prison blueprint as tatoo on his body to help in escape. The way he escape out of the prison is just damm good. The trouble he faces and how he overcomes it is just very good.

In the second season, it shows about how the 8 escaped people hide themselves from being caught from police and also how the find the 1 million dollars that was kept secretly by one of the prisoner. Here there is a new character Alex Mahone, he is as equally clever as Micheal Scofield, how he thinks about catching the escape prisoners. He is always one step behind Michael. At the end of Season 2, Michael, Alex and a few other were sent to a new prison in Sona, a hellish Panamanian prison where there are no rules, no guards and no escape.

In the new season three, by reading the review of it, is about Michael soon discovers that he was purposely placed in Sona to engineer another daring and seemingly impossible prison break- this time in order to free Whistler, a mysterious inmate hiding within the prison’s sewer system. Sona (inspired by the actual Carandiru Prison in Brazil) is unlike any American prison. A murderous riot among the inmates has driven all guards and authorities from the premises, leaving the prison with its own warped hierarchy and code of ethics created and ruled by vicious drug kingpin Lechero. There will be a few new characters in the new season,one of the new additions is a female character who is Michael’s equivalent in intelligence. It will be damm nice. Malkiat Singh Lopo

Last Friday, i got a chance to go to Penang to visit a great Sewadar of the Sikhs in Malaysia, Malkiat Singh Lopo.

He is the writer of the popular Sikh novel in Malaysia, THE ENCHANTING PRISON, which is about the chronicles the early hardships, predicaments and successes of the Sikhs who, like other communities, helped propel Malaysia to the modern industrialised land it is today.

Any of you who are interested in getting his book, you can buy it from Sabha House.

He also has more than 1,000 pieces of handicraft collection. Malkiat Singh enjoys making handicraft such as traditional costumes for dolls, fans, belts, embroidered pillowcases and quilts. His house is full with this handicraft as he locates all the pieces , which are kept in his cupboards or in boxes underneath his beds to show to us.Many of his handicraft were exhibited in many Gurdwaras, Cheras programme, Aman peace, Open House and many other more.

~He does this all with his own hands, with the help of his wife~

He has major plans of exhibition to be done and be displayed for the 300th Gurgaddi Dihara of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji next year. Cant wait for it. May Guruji bless him to carry on this sewa.

It is the duty of all Sikhs to engage in personal and communal meditation, Kirtan and the study of the holy Scriptures. Meditating and understanding of the SGGS is important to the proper development of a Sikh. One must study Gurmukhi and be able to read Gurbani and understand the meaning of the text. Translations and other material may be used to assist the Sikh but must not be the primary text for the Sikh. The Sikh has to revert back to the SGGS for the all spiritual guidance in ones life – from birth to death. (SIKHIWIKI)

This is because the meaning of that word is different. It was a fun learning session.Next Monday we will be starting out with Japji Sahib on how to read it and understand the meaning. ( That day in Johor Samelan Giani Sarinder was telling me the story of this song, the description of Ganj-e-Shakar was given to Baba Fareed ji it is because
When Baba Fareed ji was a child, his mother used to put shakar(a kind of sweet sugar) under his prayermat as it was incentive for them to pray. As their mother would say that if you pray God gives you sweet sugar to eat,and after he prayed he would lift the prayer mat to find shakar there.
One day his mother forgot and Baba Fareed had started to pray,as there mother couldnt put the shakar there while they prayed she started to cry to God, asking God to keep her laag(Laaj rakna). At that moment she looked up and saw that angels were bringing shakar down from Heaven for Baba Ji. Thats where their title Ganj e Shakar came from.

Dearest brothers and sisters,
As some of us are aware, the renowned katha vachik from Karnal, India Bhai Tarjit Singh ji is down. It is note worthy that Bhai Sahib has traveled extensively around the world to spread the message of Gurbani. His charismatic and to-the-point approach has endeared him to the world wide sangat. He will be here for another 8 days before he flies off to Norway to to share his thoughts with the eager sangat there.

Please do grab this golden opportunity… Well…the phrase "golden opportunity" is inadequate to express how blessed we are to have someone like Bhai Tarjit Singh ji to guide us.. Bhai sahib ji is stressing on the shudh ucharan of the Nitnem Banis. Tough the nitnem katha was scheduled to end today (22/08), Bhai sahib will only be completing Japji Sahib today. Tomorrow (23/08) with Satgur ji's kirpa we shall be starting the shudh ucharan as well as vichar of Rehraas Sahib followed by Kirtan Sohila.

We read the nitnem banis daily without realizing the many mistakes we make in pronunciation simply because we do not understand what we are reading… Bhai Sahib ji does not only help us with the pronunciation but also does vichar on the gist of the pangatis…
It is a beautiful experience altogether…

Many people who are attending Bhai Sahib jis katha for the 1 st time feel that it has been such a waste that they did not attend his previous sessions… However, its never too late…Lets make hay while the sun shines…Please do join in and do encourage others to do so…

This is a interesting article about Improving Ourselfs Before Doing Panth Sewa. One of the most important thing is we must do our Nitnem daily as we know Guru Gobind Singh's said REHAT PYAREE MUJKO, SIKH PYARAA NAHI.

Something that I read from Tapoban Forum which I would like to share. A really thought provoking post.....

I want to save Sikhi;

Well, not really. But I've seen this attitude lately. It's not a bad thing. We need to really do something to help Sikhi out. But, this is easier said than done.

I remember when I used to be involved in camps, the organizers used to have meetings and privately discuss how many amritdharis we were going to "create" with this camp. What lectures we could give to inspire people to take amrit, etc. Ironically, at one meeting like this, me and another organizer were talking and he jokingly asks me "So, what time'd you get up today?" I replied "Seven...hehehe" he replied, "High Five! I got up at Eight! hehehe"

Here we were, two people thinking we were going to inspire people to become amritdhari, and we both realised that we were jokers who didn't even get up for amrit vela ourselves.

This reminds me of a story I read about a Sikh politician who came to visit Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh. The Politician told Bhai Sahib about all his schemes and how the Panth would be helped and he had come to ask for Bhai Sahib's support and backing. Bhai Sahib silently listened to the politician and then once he was finished, asked "That's all fine, but have you done your nitnem today?" The politician was a bit embarassed and replied "no, I've been quite busy today, so not yet" Bhai Sahib then said "How can we have such big ambitions for Panthic Seva if we dont' even do our nitnem?"

The issue is that we need to have "jeevan" of our own before we can be of any real service to the Panth. We need to be living Sikhi before we can hope to inspire anyone. We can never "create" amritdharis, only Guru Sahb can, and Guru Sahib does kirpa on his Khalsa. If someone is being told how great Sikhi is but the preacher doesn't seem to have any of the qualities he's speaking so highly of, I'm not so sure his parchar will be successful.

On the other hand, if there is a Khalsa who lives rehit, does naam and bani, I know from personally seeing this, that just by entering a room, people will take notice and want to learn from such a person. People approach this Khalsa and ask question and want to know how s/he became this way. Without a word, such a person can do more parchaar than 101 other preachers who aren't like this. And that person's words will certainly have an effect.

So please don't take me the wrong way. I know a lot of us want to change the Panth and do parchar, but my point is that unless we live Sikhi ourselves then we can't hope to inspire or change anyone else.

Since this year is the most grand celebration for our country as its 50 years ready we got our independence from British, MUSS decided to have a Merdeka Hi-Tea in conjunction with it.

We the Sikhs also must support the Merdeka celebration as we lived in this country peacefully with the other races.

Englishmen Convention

80,000 Englishmen meet in the Old Trafford stadium, for a "Englishmen Are Not Stupid" Convention.
The leader says, "We are all here today to prove to the world that Englishmen are not stupid. Can I have a volunteer?"
A Englishmen gingerly works his way through the crowd and steps up to the stage.The leader asks him, "What is 15 plus 15?"
After 15 or 20 seconds he says, "Eighteen!"
Obviously everyone is a little disappointed.
Then 80,000 Englishmen start cheering, "Give him another chance! Give him another chance!"
The leader says, "Well since we've gone to the trouble of getting 80,000 of you in one place and we have the worldwide press and global broadcastmedia here, uh, I guess we can give him another chance."So he asks, "What is 5 plus 5?"

Meditating and understanding of the SGGS is important to the proper development of a Sikh. One must study Gurmukhi and be able to read Gurbani and understand the meaning of the text. Translations and other material may be used to assist the Sikh but must not be the primary text for the Sikh. This is because the meaning of that word is different. It was a fun learning session.Next Monday we will be starting out with Japji Sahib on how to read it and understand the meaning. One day a Sidh Yogi went to see Guru Amar Das and said, "O Guru, ever since you have been enthroned, I have longed to see you. Today I am blessed to have my longing fulfilled. I have fasted, I have undergone great hardships, yet still I have not found peace. Iwish to have peace of mind and to know that when I leave my body I will be reborn into your family." The Guru said, "Happiness and peace are not found by fasting and enduring hardships, but by loving God and singing His praises. You shall be reborn into my family; you shall be Mohri's son and my grandson." The Yogi then went to the side of the river Beas and left his body.

In time, a baby was born to the wife of Mohri, the Guru's younger son. The baby was the Sidh Yogi. Without delay, the Guru sent Bhai Ballu to bring him the tiny child. The Guru gently cradled the infant in his lap and named him Anand. He began singing and composed the whole Anand Sahib on the spot. Bhai Ballu climbed to the rooftop and sang the song to the entire village. This Anand Sahib, the Song of Bliss, which is sung in Gurdwara, at weddings and other special occasions, was first created in honor of the Sidh Yogi who became the beloved grandson of Guru Amar Das.

ARDAS

A part of the prayer called 'Ardas' was given to the Sikhs by Guru Gobind Singh. The first part invokes God and the blessings of first nine Gurus. The second part recounts the events in the life of the Tenth Guru, the subsequent Sikh history, the struggles faced and the sacrifices made, for the reform of temples and the maintenance of Sikh tradition. The third part pertains to the individual's own thoughts and any special purpose or the occasion for it. In the end, the Sikh prays for humble mind and sound intellect, the victory of the Khalsa Panth, "the Word" and betterment of the humanity. A Sikh believes in a personal God to whom he must go every now and then because he regards Him as friend and benefactor. He recites a prayer before he starts any work or business. Even if he has no time for a full Ardas, he shall make a short prayer.

Any man or woman can lead Sikh prayer; it is congregational in the nature of its contents. It recounts the sacrifices of Sikhs but makes no mention of the enemies of the Sikhs. The basic idea is to inspire the Sikhs to similar heroic deed in any future times of need. Prayer is a means of ridding the mind of its ills and desires and filling it with pure thoughts and noble aspirations. True prayer requires an effort of heart-searching, an effort to become more pure and noble. The mind must be emptied of all worldly thoughts so that peace may enter it.

The Sikh Ardas demands a complete surrender to Divine Will. Resignation to the Will of God will ultimately benefit the individual. Only then can God take up his problems and sort them out. The Lord will never fail him who throws himself on His Mercy. Moreover, this submission eliminates the ego, the wall that stands between man and his Creator. The reading of the Guru Granth Sahib is itself a kind of prayer. We seek the Guru's command. He gives us wise counsel, but it is for us to obey. Merely worshiping the scripture without carrying its teaching into daily life is the very negation of prayer. True prayer is the practical living up to of the word of the Guru and a continuing effort, for spiritual development.

The Youth Kirtan Darbar which was organised in Kg Pandan Gurdwara, had a great response from everyone including the youths. The Kirtan done by all the Jathas were uplifting and ghajkay. So this is a follow up for that programme. Those of you who missed the first one, try to come for this one, it will be superb. (its this year 2007, not 2008- printing error)

Sant Sipahi Camp

While i was being accused of writing comments on the people's blog with anonymous nick, they did not know that i was off to the Sant Sipahi Camp during the weekend :)

IMPORTANCE OF ARDAAS

First of all i would like to share with you the importance of doing ardass to Guru Maharaj and ask for blessings before going off to any trip. This happen to us on the way going to Melaka Gurdwara. We left to Melaka without asking the AGIAA of Guru Maharaj. On the way there, after Seremban, suddenly our bus had this loud weird sound and smoke started coming out from the gearbox which is located behind part of the bus. Then our bus had to stop. We got down and saw that that the many of the parts of the gearbox had dropped on the roadside and the cars were going so fast. We had to remove all the parts of the gearbox from the road as two cars just stopped behind us with a flat tyre. As the cars were coming fast and it was dark at night, 5 of us had to run untill the middle of the highway to carry the fallen parts as we worried that simply other innocent people will face accident.

Then later we saw far away a biker lying at the side of the road and was injured. We ran towards him and luckly he wasnt injured badly. He told us that he was going at the side of the road and suddenly he hit into something and he flew and did Summersault 3 times and he dropped and we saw his bike was bad shape, his engine broke and his blackoil flew everywhere on the road. Luckly Jagdeep saw him from far, or not he will be left there alone injured in the dark and no cars might have stopped for him and at the same time his handphone batery had died. Waheguru tera Shukar Hai.

Later we got to found out that there were some sharp steel rods lying on the road and one of it flew into the bus gearbox. Before it happen to us, 3 cars also got flat tyres infront of us.
Then we called the Plus and they came. Spike and Amirshan was the heroes as they changed the flat tyre's of the two cars. Then the PLUS came and took control of the situation and they took the motorcyclist to the hospital. Then we had to wait for another two hours for the next bus. All in the bus remaind calm and we played some games and did kirtan. Then we remembered that we did not do ardass before leaving.

SANT SIPAHI CAMP

We took the bus and we arrived at Melaka Gurdwara around 1.3oam. We washed up and had a fantastic amritwela session. We did our amritwela session in the garden of the Gurdwara as the Darbar Sahib was clossed. It was very peaceful and havoc amritwela session.
Next day we woke up and had the first simran & IPS session. Simran was done by Jasbeanti and it was amaizing and superb. Then Veerji Sher gave katha about how to live a Sipahi lifestyle.
Then after that it was the Lunch time and we expecting that the Langgar was made by the Sewadar but all of us we were instructed to make langgar together. It was something different. The objective was to make us feel that during the Guru's time when they went for war and came back, the Sipahi had to make their own langgar althought they were tired. All had fun in making pappar, "crying" while cutting onions :) , making sabji, rice and lots more. The langgar was havoc and tasty.

Later we had gatka session and were thought on how to use the sothi, and the one thing that goes round and round and we have to stand in the middle to move it and has plastic balls on the side( Sorry i forgot the name, will some one tell me, thanks) it was nice.
While there was a demostratiom going on how will the combat happen, two of the sewadars, Harwin and Ravin came and threw water at the participants and later we had the Water Fight Session. We had alot of fun making people wet. I was also wet from top to bottom.
Then we went and clean up the Gurdwara on the mess we did for the water fight and went clean up overselfs and we had session teaching on how to tie Dhurmalla. It was shown by amirshan, as he ties very it very beautifully. We had kirtan session and question & answer session at night. Giani Harcharan Singh also did kirtan. He did it ghajkay and powerpack.

Next day we had gatka in the morning we learned more. We were also given a demostration by Jessy on how they will do KILA( many people attack one person in the middle) It was damm nice and we tried the KILA on our instructors like Jessy, Spike, Harwin and The bercham veerji. They defended themselves very well with their own diffrent skills. It was nice to see these. Later we had our last IPS session by Nikiten Jatha lead by veer Charanbir. It was ghajkay also. After that we packed our bags and left to KL without forgetting to do Ardass first. :)
I had alot of fun at the camp while learning alot. Cant wait for the next camp.

Great News Awaits Future Leaders of the Panth

APIIT Sikh Students is currently planning to organise a joint-venture Jorh Mela with all other leading Higher Learning Institutes in Malaysia.

Living in a country of multi ethnicity and diversity, our youths face many challenges in their daily lives in schools, colleges, work place and so on. One of the foremost challenges that confronts the Sikh youths today is the challenge to their distinctive identity. Thefore we a group of Sikh students currently studying @ APIIT seek to devote its attention and energy to the task of reaching out and equipping the youth with necessary information and tools to stand and overcome these challenges.

This jorh mela would be a very first in Malaysia,whereby every college sikh students get together and hold a major event.

The main purpose of this jorh mela is to get all the youths together and therefore to create a network among our youngsters.

All the Sikhs will be celebrating the Avtaar Dihara of our 6th guru, the Miri Piri Dey Malek,Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji on the 5th of July. In conjuntion with this there are 2 special programmes.

First time in Malaysia, Youths Kirtan Darbar. You might have heard this type of kirtan darbar being done in the Western monthly. The youths here have also decided to organise a Youth Kirtan Darbar in conjunction of Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's Avtaar Dihara.

I was going through the bani of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and there was one part that interested me and I decided to share it with all. Guruji wrote a few questions that he know in the future people like us will ask this questions. Its the questions that we ask everytime. Guru Arjan Dev ji gave simple and beautiful answer for them. Its on Page 131 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. ( Blue = Shabad, Red = Meaning)

ka-un so muktaa ka-un so jugtaa.
Who is liberated, and who is united?

The Gurmukh turns toward the Guru, and the self-willed manmukh turns away from the Guru.

The Gurmukh is united with the Lord, while the manmukh is separated from Him. The Gurmukh reveals the way. 7

gurmukh akhar jit Dhaavat rahtaa.
The Guru's Instruction is the Word, by which the wandering mind is restrained.

gurmukh updays dukh sukh sam sahtaa.
Through the Guru's Teachings, we can endure pain and pleasure alike.

gurmukh chaal jit paarbarahm Dhi-aa-ay gurmukh keertan gaa-ay jee-o. 8
To live as Gurmukh is the lifestyle by which we come to meditate on the Supreme Lord. The Gurmukh sings the Kirtan of His Praises. 8

saglee banat banaa-ee aapay.
The Lord Himself created the entire creation.

aapay karay karaa-ay thaapay.
He Himself acts, and causes others to act. He Himself establishes.

ikas tay ho-i-o anantaa naanak aykas maahi samaa-ay jee-o. 9236
From oneness, He has brought forth the countless multitudes. O Nanak, they shall merge into the One once again. 9236

Some of you may be wondering who is Gurmukh? is that a persons name? is that a characteristic?
No, Gurmukh literally means To face the Guru. The word in Punjabi means to follow the "ways of the Guru" and not to follow your animal instincts and basic desires of the mind. The opposite of Gurmukh is Manmukh, which means a person who follows his own uncontrolled mind or wild desires.

I was going through the videos on YouTube and i saw one nice video of the song Bulla Ki Jaana sung by one of Our Sikh Brothers with Dastaar and Beard. The meanings of the song was "hair standing". I am very proud of him. I decided to find out more about him. Below is his biodata taken from Wikipedia

Rabbi Shergill (born 1975) is an Indian musician famous for his debut album Rabbi and the chart-topper song of 2005, Bulla Ki Jana. His music has been described variously as rock, Sufiana, and "semi-Sufi semi-folksy kind of music with a lot of Western arragements."Rabbi himself has been called "Punjabi music's true urban balladeer".

Rabbi's father was a Sikh preacher. His mother is a college principal and a Punjabi poetess. Rabbi is an alumnus of Khalsa College, Delhi. He started at the Fore School of Management but dropped out after a year. He did ad jingles for a while, including for Nova ghee, Yamaha RX-T motorbikes, and Times FM.

He struggled for many years to get his debut album published. He was working with Sony Music for a while, but Sony later backed out. He then approached Minty Tejpal, brother of Tehelka's editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, who liked his music and offered him a contract. After Tehelka's first sting operation, the company ran into financial problems. Magnasound also offered him a contract, but the company became bankrupt before the album could materialize. Rabbi was offered decent money to include his songs in Hindi movies such as Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, Dubai Returned and Paap, but refused. If the above statement is true for you then answering the simple questions below should be a walk in the park.

c) Why did Guru Nanak Dev Ji visit places like Mecca and Hardrabad, and what did he teach the people there?

If you found the above questions easy, then good for you, as they’re very basic. However the truth is that most Sikhs today don’t even know the names of our ten Guru’s let alone any deeper knowledge on Sikhi. While we all like to call ourselves Sikh’s when it suits us to look cool in reality things couldn’t be further from the truth.

Our history is filled with unequaled sacrifices by men and woman to uphold and carry on the Sikh faith. They were hunted down with rewards being put on the head of anyone who followed Sikhi by the Government of the time. Things reached such points that thousands of Sikhs per day were publicly killed for refusing to convert and instead chose to keep their Sikhi and die. Our Sikh forefathers had so much love and devotion to the teachings and way of life preached by our Guru’s that they happily lived difficult lives and underwent unimaginable tortures, but kept their religion alive so that we could have the right to follow and live by Sikhism in freedom.

Our religion is the newest and most practical in the World. We believe in One God and the equality of all human beings regardless of gender, caste or even religion. The teachings of our Guru’s are so relevant and ahead of its time compared to all the other faiths. However we don’t even know the simple basics, nor do we make the efforts to read up on and research our religion. Consequently we have become easy target for conversions and exploitations due us not really knowing who we are, or what Sikhism is.

It is the basic duty of anyone who calls them self a Sikh whether they are clean-shaven, keep a turban or an Amridhari to take steps to find out more about this hidden diamond of Sikhism. I am sure all would be amazed at what Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the other Guru Ji’s really did and left the whole of humanity with.

The answers:

a) The phrase Ik Onkar in its most basic interpretation simply means One God. This is the very first thing that comes in Guru Granth sahib Ji. Hence our Guru Ji is teaching us from the very beginning that there is only One God for all beings.

b) Simran literally means remembrance. In Sikhism the highest thing an individual can do to get closer to God is to remember and meditate on God’s name. Waheguru, which means wonderful Lord/enlightener is the most common name used by Sikhs for God. Its always to be repeated and contemplated. Sewa means selfless service. This can be any act such as cleaning utensils in the Gurdwara, helping someone in need, helping out a charity etc. The Guru’s reveal how these two simple things that can be done easily by anyone are more beneficial then other ritualistic acts such as fasting, going on pilgrimages etc.

c) Guru Nanak Dev Ji after receiving a divine order from God to spread the truth embarked on the widest tour of the World carried out by any Prophet in history. Where ever Guru Ji went he preached to the people and leaders of other faiths about One God, love and the brotherhood of humanity. At Mecca Guru Ji revealed to the Muslims that the Kaaba is not the house of God, and that God is every where. In Sikhi we believe God is in everyones heart. Likewise at the Hindu site of Hardrabad Guru Ji revealed to the Pilgrims how ritualistic acts such as throwing Ganges water towards the Sun in order for it to reach their ancestors was foolish and wrong. The above two are basic accounts, for more details you must get a book on Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

d) In the times of our 9th Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji; the Muslim government of India was forcefully converting Hindu’s to Islam. The Hindu’s couldn’t fight back and had no hope as each day thousands were being forced to convert. In despair a party of the highest Hindu Priests made a journey to Guru Teg Behadur Ji for help. Although Guru Ji didn’t believe in Hindu beliefs such as idol worshipping, the caste system etc still agreed to help them, and went to Delhi to confront Aurenzb the fanatical Muslim Emperor. The Emperor refused to stop, and our Guru Ji stated that if he could be converted all of India would willingly convert. Hence Guru Teg Behadur Ji was tortured and eventually publicly beheaded. This brave act was done to save the human rights of another faith, the Hindu’s to practice their religion freely. Nowhere else in history has the Prophet of one faith died to save the rights of another faith to practice their faith freely.

e) In 1984 the Indian Government launched a full scale military attack (using commandos’, helicopters, artillery and tanks) on the Golden Temple, killing thousands of men, woman and even children. A few months later two Sikhs avenged the unjustifiable attack by shooting Indira Gandhi the Prime Minister who ordered the attack. In Delhi over 4000 Sikhs were killed and burnt alive by Hindu mobs over four days in revenge. Sikh properties were looted, men and children killed, woman raped with the police looking on and even joining in.

How Shabad Hazare got written

A cousin of Guru Ram Das came to Amritsar from Lahore especially to ask the Guru to attend his son's wedding. The Guru said, "I will not be able to go because I can't leave my duties as Guru. Perhaps I can send one of my Sons instead." Guru Ram Das had three sons: Prithi Chand, called Prithia, Mahadev, and Arjan Mal.

Prithia was in charge of collecting donations, of which he secretly took a portion for himself. When the Guru asked him to attend the wedding, Prithia said, "I have to take care of the collections. And I hate going to weddings." Actually, he was afraid if he were away from the Guru for too long, he might not be appointed the Guru's successor. Having no luck with Prithia, the Guru then turned to Mahadev. Mahadev lived his life in meditation and said, "I have no desire to involve myself in worldly affairs." Finally, the Guru asked Arjan if he would go. Arjan said, "I only desire to do what you wish." The Guru was very pleased. He asked Arjan to spend some time in Lahore to share the Guru's teachings with the Sikhs there. Any donations he received were to be given to the free kitchen to feed the poor. The last words he said to Arjan were, "You should stay in Lahore until I send for you by letter."
Arjan stayed in Lahore after the wedding and grew to be much loved by his relations and the Sikhs there. Still, all the time he was there, his heart was with his father, Guru Ram Das. When he expressed his longing to his new friends, they suggested he write a letter asking that he be able to return. Arjan wrote a beautiful poem saying, "My soul longs for the Guru like the pied-cuckoo longs for the rain of the monsoon. I am always a sacrifice unto the True Guru." He sent this letter with one of the Sikhs who had come with him to Lahore. When the messenger reached Amritsar, Prithia saw him and suspected that he had a letter for the Guru from Arj an. He said,"I will take the letter to the Guru myself."

When he read the letter he knew that it was so beautiful that it would move the Guru's heart in Arjan's favor. So he hid the letter in his coat and sent the Sikh back to Arjan telling him that the Guru said he should stay in Lahore until sent for. When Arjan received this message, he knew that Prithia, and not his father, had sent it. He then wrote a second letter with strict orders that it be given only to the Guru. In it, he wrote, "I love the sight of the Guru's face and the sound of his words, and it has been long since I have seen him. I am ever a sacrifice unto the True Guru." This time, Prithia grabbed the letter out of the messenger's hands, and grew more angry than before. Again, he hid the letter in his coat. He sent another message that Arjan was to remain in Lahore until sent for.

When Arjan heard this from the messenger, he wrote a third letter, this time putting a number "3" on it. He told the messenger to be on his guard against Prithia and to give the letter to Guru Ram Das himself. The messenger waited until Prithia had to go home, and then quickly reached the Guru and gave him the letter. In it, Arjan said, "Each second away from the Guru is like an age. I cannot sleep without a sight of the Guru. I am ever a sacrifice unto him." On this letter, the Guru saw the number "3", and knew instantly that he had not received the other two letters. The instantly that he had not received the other two letters. The messenger related the story to him, and the Guru grew very angry. He called for Prithia and asked him three times if he knew anything about the other letters. Prithia denied it. The Guru could read his thoughts, and told the messenger to go get the coat in Prithia's house. When he returned with it, the two missing letters were in the pocket. The Guru charged Prithia with lying in front of the whole congregation, and laid bare his disobedience to the Guru.

At once, the Guru sent Bhai Buddha to Lahore with a carriage to bring Arjan home as soon as possible. When Arjan was finally united with his father, he placed his head on the Guru's chest against his long beard. He remained that way for many moments, while the Guru held him gently in his arms. The Guru then said that as he had written three stanzas, he should write a fourth to finish the poem. Arjan wrote the last verse saying, "It is my good fortune to have met the True Guru, and I have found the Immortal God in my own home. My greatest desire is to never be separated from him again, not even for an instant. I am ever a sacrifice to the True Guru." Upon hearing this, the Guru was very pleased. He said, "The Guruship is passed on because of merit. As only the one who is most humble can claim it, I grant it to you." The Guru then sent for the coconut and five paise and placed them before Arjan. He descended from his throne and seated Arjan upon it in front of the whole sangat. Bhai Buddha pressed the tilak on Arjan's forehead as a symbol that the light of Guru Ram Das had now passed to Arjan.

The poem that Arjan wrote is called Shabad Hazare. It is so beautiful that it is worth the singing of a thousand shabds.

Trip to Gunung Tahan

About three months back i got this wonderful opportunity to follow my friends and the Sikh Camping Troopers to go hiking to Gunung Tahan. Below is the summary of the whole story written by Giani Lakhbir and followed by my experience.

Weeks of preparation in terms of fitness brought excitement on the night of excursion by bus to the jungles of Taman Negara. Eight of us all hyped up, ready to go to try our limits on territory alien to city living folks. The challenge would bring eighty five km of walk on gradients almost reaching right angles for six days through natural but chartered terrain of Taman Negara. Old hats like Baldev, Jagajit, Manjit and Sher had their exuberance mellowed in proportion to their number of trips there. It was the new recruits, Phobinder, Ajit and Navjeet, that exhilaration for jungle tracking was bursting its reams.

At 10pm on 21st Feb 2007 from Putra World Trade Center the journey by bus would begin, a four hour journey to Merapuk, from where private taxis ply the route to reach camp at Taman Negara. Sleep after 3am at the camp was easy as was waking at 6am to wash up, nitnem and breakfast before setting out to register at the Taman Negara office. The morning brought Ed and Will, two English men who were just hoping to hop on a group for their climb to Gunung Tahan. They couldn’t have fitted better, as wavelengths synchronized and group dynamism became fluid. The one way trip from Jeram to Kuala Tahan, by way of Gunung Tahan is nothing short of a six day marathon with back packs that only slowly begin to get lighter as food is consumed and the jungle fertilized.

The first day is a grueling six hour journey from Jeram to Camp Kor. Bathing in the streams of Camp Kor removes fatigue and acclimatizes one to jungle living. A leisure wait for nightfall and campfire followed by dinner from our caterer Baldev brings laughs and intoxicate the spirit of togetherness. Rehraas was the balm that soothed and disciplined the groups froggy habits. After Rehras it was time for Viakhia and talks on Sikhs way of Life. The two foreigners and the guide Kimi participated by observing and leaving their ears open.

The second day brought new challenges as the marathon walk to the peak became a target of obsession. Japji Sahib, Benti Chaupai and a string of one liners from Gurbani and its related themes kept the spirits of the group from dampening and tiring. Hours of quiet walking and hours of noisy strolling strangely lifts the mind to higher stimulations as one balance his faith with reality on situations that could develop and hinder smooth passage through the kingdom of animal territory. A fair share of injuries was borne by Manjit and Phobinder as their shoes tore into their skin causing painful sores but the momentum created within the group tacked them along.

The second night and third morning at the peak unfolded the Khalsa Nishan and the SCAT Banner. Photographs were taken on mission accomplished. The push to Camp Teku from the peak on the third day was a fourteen hour journey that tested the effectiveness of group coherence pitching its fastest and slowest trekker with nerves frayed between positive thinking, energy levels and injury prone. The bystanders, our animal friends must have watched this motley circus passing through their territory adorning lighted headlamps and dangling water bottles resting noisily and walking turtlish as the day’s journey took its toll. It was after 10pm and after getting all wet with intermittent rains along the way that the day’s mission was completed. It was some satisfaction after a little wash-up at the stream that finally cooled our souls for a good night’s rest.

The track from Camp Teku to final destination at Kuala Tahan is a journey between two and three days. It depends on degree of boredom now setting in offsetting sweaty walks to the innate attraction of metalled roads and hotel stay hot baths. Democracy finally dictated three days was the choice of majority as the ten tested their skills in polluting the law of the jungle with their democratic ideals. The animals also needed time to wean of our presence, so therefore a longer stay was only logical. The monkeys must have cheered as DNA patterns are much closer in exclusion to the annoyance of their other jungle creed. It is not astonishing that sufferance is relative if only animals could complain and God sits in judgment. Maybe that’s why all animals keep very much away from the chartered routes of humans through their territory. Another three days of dining, walking, bathing and daily prayers added trunks of treasure memories in regards to the trip.

It was the fifth night that saw a huge branch from a tree one hundred feet up broke and fell like a missile right in front of our camp doorstep, penetrating one foot into the earth. No one could figure out whether it was plain luck that saved us from the jungles unknown or Gods intervention as He was duty bound to lead us out free from any serious mishaps to the safety of our homes. Whatever it is the adventure carries its own inspirations that soothes the soul and let it brush against God’s guiding hand seen by some and missed by others.

Finally, I thank our guide Mr Kimi, who had his own share of humorous stories to tell about half baked adventurers experimenting with the perils of jungle tracking. The sixth day journey finally ended with Gurjeet driving the fourteen sitter van of SNSM to Kuala Tahan to bring us back to the mundane rush of the rat race in the concrete jungle we call home.

Pity him, during the hiking halfway, his shoes was injuring his feet. His feet was as big as a giant's feet and red. It was scary to look at his feet. but he still manage to go to the peak. He was a good companion as he took care of me. Me and Navjeet disturb him all the way and we had fun

Manjeet and Sher all the way was entertaining us as both of them disturbed and argured jokingly among each other and we laughed till we tergolek. Manjeet's feet also got injured and had cuts here and there, he was the one badly injured but still with great will power he managed to complete the expedition, he was great. Sher was one cool guy and was relax all the way as he went through many of these hikings before. Sher was there entertained everyone with his great stories.

~ Without Baldev we would be left in Hunger ~

Firstly, MEH BALDEV SINGH DA BHOUT BHOUT THANVAD KARDA HAA, BHOUT BHOUT...Without him there is no trip. He was the organiser and leader of the trip. He took care of everyone and encouraged everyone all the way. He also cooked the food for all of us, we learned a little bit of cooking from him, lolz.

We were like having party there, we ate all the TOP FORM food there, we had Mamak Mee, Veg. Rendang, Rotia, Veg. Mock meat, Corn Flakes, Pappar and not forgetting Cha.
We did not suffer the food side as Baldev took care of everything.

We pitied the Englishman as they only were eating Maggie Mee all the way, we made some extra food and offered them. They enjoyed Punjabi Khana.

~ Camfire ~

We had a campfire on the first night, as we reached there early. We all sang songs, talked and dry our clothes in the fire. The first night sleep in jungle was damm nice, when you close your eyes, and hear the jungle sound, wahh it was fantastic.

Jagajit was the havoc person during the hiking. He entertained everyone with his jokes and his stories. He took care of me during the Hiking, he was behind me and make sure that I was ok. He thought me a few steps and skills of hiking, and on the second last day, he did something to my beg and all of the sudden it was light, I shouted at him, WHY, WHY now only?? cannot do it earlier ah, hehe. He was the fastest one during the hiking, very fast he will reach the next checkpoint.

The Englishman Ed & Will were interesting people. Learned alot of their lifestyle, their country, culture and lots more.

Normally when anyone reaches a checkpoint, he will shout the JAKARA and who ever behind will reply. This indicates to make sure everyone on the back is ok. On the last day, the Ed & Will were among the earliest to reach the finish and they shouted BOLEH SO NI HAAL at us. We were like blank, then we answered SAT SRI AKAAL. We were like WAH!?!?

Giani Ji as a elderly person also manage to hike till the peak, he was great and fit. Giani ji took care of everyone like their children. He was the Doctor of this trip. He massaged everone and applied medicine for everyone. He made sure everyone was allright and he would be at the back of everyone making sure that no one was lost and injured. We also learned alot of Stories regarding the Gurbani and Path from him. He was very knowledegeable and shared alot with us.

We managed to reach the peak on the Second day, but the second day was the most tiring, tiring means really tiring trip. As we had to hike very very high to reach the peak. When all of reached the top, we were like Waheguru Tera Shukar Hai. During this whole trip, whoever never remember God before this also will start remembering him. hehe, At night it was very very cold and watching the stars at night was beautiful, Very nice Dating place we thought. Lolz

We could not stay long on the peak as there was no water supply there.

Navjeet was my companion besides Phobinder all the way. We were together during the climb and all the way. We had fun and enjoyed ourself. He took care of me and made sure i was behind him. We were like challenging each other on who will reach first, we tried to catch up with Jagajit. We shared stories and talk jokes all the way.

The last person is "Kimi The Guide". He was another fun and jovial person. We were very lucky to get a person like him. Every night all of us will sit down and listen to his experience during his trips before this. There were alot of intersting stories. He made sure everyone on the Camp was ok and looked after everyone during the hike.

Normally, all of us will sing kirtan here and there and most of the time we will sing the TUHI TUHI SIMRAN. Suddenly the next day morning, Kimi woke up and started singing Tuhi Tuhi. hahaha, it was damm funny. He was telling " banyak best la itu lagu yang kamu orang nyani" lol.

It was a havoc experience. I would like to thank everyone for making this possible and taking care of me.

All of you out there should go hiking to Gunung Tahan at least once in the life and you all will know how hard it feels like during the Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time when they use to live in the jungle.

Dera Sacha Sauda 3

Dera apologises, but to Guru

Finally after 14 days, the conflict between Sikhs and dera followers seems to have ended, as the Dera Sacha Sauda apologised to the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh following the controversy over newspaper advertisements that showed the dera chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh attired like Guru Gobind Singh.

Tendering an apology through a press note issued at about 8 p.m. at the dera headquarters, the dera stated that there is no question of imitating Guru Gobind Singh, as we could not even think to do so.

“The dera had earlier too expressed regret over the whole issue. But in the large interest of the humanity, we apologise to great spiritual Guru Gobind Singh. We want peace and brotherhood to prevail in Punjab, Haryana and also in the country and abroad.”

In the 10-line one-page press release, the dera said that it was established in 1948 and respected all religions. We work to reform the people by preaching them to become vegetarian, to quit drugs, alcohol, and also teach the followers ways to overcome caste and religious barriers aa also to work for the humanity.

It was distributed to the media by a three-member team, headed by the dera chief spokesman Dr Aditya Arora.

Five Jathedars of five religious seats will now take up the matter on May 31 and decide whether to accept the apology or not.

However, the press note issued by the dera did not carry any signature or reference number. It was issued under the letterhead of the Dera Sacha Sauda. While distributing the press note, no cameraman of electronic or print medium was allowed. Besides, no member of the committee allowed any question.

So as the conclusion, did Ram Rahim really meant the appology?? or did his Cheley just print the letter fast one to show that they appologise ready... Because this letter is not official enough.

What I think is that he must come out to the public and appologise to the Sikhs, then only i think the appology will be accepted..

Dera Sacha Sauda 2

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will ensure closure of all deras of Sacha Sauda headed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in Punjab if Akal Takht directed it to do so, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said after a meeting of the body’s executive members on Wednesday.
The Five Jathedar, through a resolution on May 20, had asked Sacha Sauda head to close all his deras in Punjab by May 27, failing which Sikh clergy had warned of a stricter action against the sect. Makkar refused to divulge the possible strategy of SGPC as to how it would close all the deras without any constitutional power. On the truce efforts of Sarv Dharma Committee, he said he didn’t have any deliberations with it but admitted to having a meeting in Delhi which was attended by different religious leaders.

About the Appology
On 20th May, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Raheem Singh expressed his regret for appearing in the garb of Guru Gobind Singh, saying it wasn't his intention to imitate the 10th and the last Sikh Guru.
What Akal Takht Jathedar commented on this =
Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti acknowledged that the 'regret' note tendered by Gurmeet Ram Rahim was not acceptable as sentiments of the Sikh Nation were greatly hurt by the acts of the dera leader. After the meeting of the Singh Sahibs, he announced that if the Government failed to take appropriate actions, the Sikh leadership will meet again to announce a final decision on May 31.
Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti announced the letter as a 'mere play of words by Sacha Sauda'. Harnaam Singh Dhumma, announced that the dera chief will only be forgiven by the Sikhs if he appeared in front of Akal Takhat Sahib to personally tender the apology.

Is this appology good enough for Sikhs??

I was reading this interesting article on Sikhnet written by Gurujot Singh titled
Will the Guru's Sikhs please stand up?

He said :

"I’ve seen pictures of Singhs beating displays of Ram Rahim with their shoes. Sikhs have burned down Ram Rahim’s facilities, which were used to provide hospice to the needy. Now there are thousands of angry Sikhs out there who want this guy dead. "

"The part that really bothers me is that righteous Sikhs have actually killed others because of this matter. This is an insult to the Kirpan and against the teachings of our Guru. The Kirpan must not be used out of anger, vengeance, politics etc. It must be used out of defense and compassion. I am in shock that another 1984 is looming and the whole Khalsa Panth is being dragged into it."

"Ram Rahim may be able to fool some people, but the core of Sikhism will live on by its purity. “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh” – “The pure ones belongs to God, and Victory belongs to God”. We don’t have to worry about the purity of Sikhism it will live on in those who are pure. Those who use Sikhi for their own politics will fall by the weight of their own karma. We don’t need to attack Ram Rahim, because the Guru’s Court is so pure that it purges itself. "

Dera Sach Sauda

Nowadays people can go to that extend to dressing up like the 10th guru, Guru Gobind Singh and give out false amrit to people. The head of the Sacha Sauda's so-called religious chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who hurt Sikh sentiments by doing this.

~Cult leader wearing clothes similar to the ones Guru Gobind Singh Ji is depicted with, complete with a Kalgi on his head~

This person has also mimicked the sacred Sikh Amrit-Sanchar ceremony carried out by Guru Sahib on Vaisakhi of 1699. Gurmit Ram Rahim prepared a Ruhafza Sharbat (flavored milk) drink, labeled it as the 'Jam-e-Insa' (drink of humanity), administered it to the Sacha Sauda followers and announced the formation of the 'Insa Panth'.

How Ram Rahim Insulted the Amrit-Sanchar Ceremony.
To inaugurate the ceremony, Ram Rahim first administered the drink to seven men and announced the forty-seven golden rules of the so-called Insa Panth which all members of the congregation must abide by. Later, Ram Rahim appeared in front of the seven men, whom he titled the 'Sat Sitare' (Seven Stars), satirizing the ‘Panj Pyare’ (beloved five) of the Sikhs and asked them to carry out a ceremony to initiate him in this newly formed religious order. At this ceremony, Ram Rahim was dressed in clothing much like the type adorned by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and mimicked historical accounts of Vasakhi 1699.
Later after this event took place, tensions broke out in Bathinda in which Sikhs protested the acts of Ram Rahim's cult. Sacha Sauda followers also came out to oppose the protesting Sikhs and the scene became violent when at least twenty-five persons were badly injured. According to witnesses, Punjab Police officers just looked on as cultists beat the Sikh protestors with sticks and stones. Once the fight began to even out, the police finally decided to intervene and the tense situation was brought under control.

Bathinda Clash
Miscreants belonging to the "Sacha" Sauda cult virtually took over the government mini-secretariat in Bathinda for an entire day. Their volunteers assembled around the complex armed with fighting staffs and other weapons. Several trucks loaded with bricks and rocks were brought in for offensive use against the protesting Sikh Sangat.

By 10:00am the cultists had assembled a large tent along with a stage on the main road facing the secretariat. One after another, pro-cult speakers began to deliver hateful remarks against the protesting Sikh Sangat.

One speaker openly challenged the Sikh community and declared “we have drunk the jam-e-insaa from our satguru, so go ahead and mess with us, and we will prove that our guru is greater than your guru.” This was a direct challenge to the Sikhs that their cult leader was greater than Guru Nanak-Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. The speaker further spewed, “our leader will ride a horse, and wear any dress he wishes to wear. If anyone has the guts, try to stop him! If anyone speaks against our satguru, we are willing to die, even if we will create rivers of blood by this action.”

HOW COULD THEY EVEN THINK OF TELLING THESE HARSH WORDS. ITS VERY VERY DISSAPOINTING.

Bhai Kanwaljit Singh Ji is the first Shaheed of the anti-Dera Morcha. He was killed near the Suman Dera of the Sauda Cult.

A meeting was held at Akal Takht Sahib with all the major Jathebandis and Jathedars. They have announced that Punjab will be shutdown on Tuesday, 22nd May because the government has not yet met the demands of the Khalsa Panth.
They further demanded all “Sacha” Sauda deras in Punjab be completely shutdown and evacuated. If these demands are not met by the 27th of May, there will be a Panthic march on 30th May.

Is it Deja Vu All Over Again
A representative of the Khalsa Alliance, while talking with Panthic Weekly, compared the Bathinda incident with the various Nirankari clashes that occurred in the late 1970's. Those clashes came to a climax on Vaisakhi of 1978 when thirteen innocent Sikhs were killed by the armed Nirankaris with the aid of local Police. The Nirankari leader Gurbhachan Sinh had paraded the streets of Amritsar Sahib on Vaisakhi mimicking Sikh traditions. Copying the ideology of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Gurbhachan Nirankari had promised to form 'Sat Sitare' in comparison to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Punj Pyare. That incident had involved hundreds of Sikhs peacefully marching and chanting hymns when dozens of armed gunmen opened fire on them with automatic weaponry.

I was going through a website of sikhism, www.realsikhism.com There I found a few intersting questions that we sikhs always ask and the answers as well. The answers here are fantastic. Q: What is the purpose of life?

A: The purpose of life is to worship God and eventually become one with the One.

God is the greatest spirit of all and our soul is a part of God. Our soul has been separated from God and it’s dignity remains in merging back with God. The purpose of this life is to become one with God, to merge in the One whom we originated from. Our Guru tells us “This human body has been given to you. This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe. All other works are useless, join the holy congregation and meditate on the Name of God” (Guru Granth Sahib, 12).

In addition, “The blind (those who do not recognize the importance of God) have forgotten the Name of God. The self-willed people are in utter darkness. Their comings and goings in reincarnation do not end; through death and rebirth, they are wasting away” (Guru Granth Sahib, 19). Furthermore, “Those who meditate single-mindedly on the Name of God, and contemplate the Teachings of the Guru. Their faces are forever radiant in the Kingdom of God” (Guru Granth Sahib, 28). If you are not meditating on God, you are wasting your life.

Q: What does Sikhism tells about the image or description of God?

A: Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Holy Scripture describes the characteristics of God. Through the 1430 pages the Guru Granth Sahib explains about God, praises God, and informs on what essentially makes God.

The opening of the Scripture is a description of God: ‘God is one. He is the supreme truth. He, the Creator, is beyond fear and beyond hate. He is immortal. He is neither born and nor does He die. By Guru’s grace shall He be met. In the beginning He was the truth. Throughout the ages He has been the truth. He is the truth here and now and He shall be the truth forever’ (Guru Granth Sahib, 1).

The most important aspect of being a Sikh, is to understand that, there is one endless God. He is indescribable, inestimable, indubitable, infallible, intangible, imperishable, immutable, immortal, immaculate, immanent, unconquerable, unique, formless, fearless, deathless, timeless, ageless, compassionate, omnipresent and creator of all.

God loves everyone. Sikhs believe there is no one superior to God. Furthermore, Sikhs believe that God created all beings, all animals, birds, all creatures, including humans. When the First Great Guru, the founder of Sikh faith, Guru Nanak Dev gave this definition to the people who believed differently in God, they were surprised and they asked him, who told you this and how God came in existence? The Great Guru said, “God Himself told me that He is self-created.” They asked him, “how does God look?" and the Great Guru preached that God is formless. God is beyond gender and form. God has no body.

The main difference between Sikhism and some of the world’s other religions is that there are people who worship Jesus and believe Jesus is God, some people worship Buddha and believe Buddha is God. The Sikh Gurus themselves said that they are not to be worshipped. They expressed very clearly not to worship anyone except God.

Q: Christians always talk about going to heaven or hell, what does Sikhism say about it?

A: Christians believe that God lives in heaven and Christians always talk about going to heaven. First of all, salvation is not reached just by entering in heaven. Salvation is reached by merging in the Holy Spirit. Salvation is not reached by just talking and doing good deeds, it is reached by meditating on God, and living the life by renouncing lust, greed, anger, emotional attachment and egotistical pride. “As long as the mind is filled with the desire for heaven, he does not reach God” (Guru Granth Sahib 325). The desire should be to meet God, not to go to heaven. Heaven and Hell are not created to live but to award and punish. Your good deeds will be paid off in heaven, your bad deeds in hell; you will then take birth again until you become One with God.

Hari Belia Function

Yesterday, Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia sent around 40 people to Hari Belia (National Youth Day) which was held in Bukit Jalil. I also got an oppurtunity to join this group of people. We prepared for this day for at least one week, as the Sabha had to send out messege to call all the Sikh Youth to come and join in the fun and also to represent the Sikhs to show support the Sports Ministery and the Malaysian Youths.

We waited for everyone to come at Sabha House by 7.00pm. Then we left to Bukit Jalil by the Van. All the guys were requested to wear kurta and all the girls were requested to wear punjabi suit. We reached at Bukit Jalil at 8.00pm. As we walked to the Stadium Putra, there were many exhibition booths set up along the way. It was nice.

As we were walking in the Stadium all the other races were looking at the Phai fellows and wondering, From where this Phai Fellows come ready??? hehe, This is because it was the first time the Sikhs send a team for this National Youth Day. We were proud of it. :)

As we walk to the arena, the noise and the people cheering was damm havoc. It was just superb. The stadium was pack as there was 15,000 youths attended this function. The event kicked off with some youths perfomed Brake-Dance. They perfomed very good, as they did many fantastic skills. After that there was this Dikir Barat and Nasyid performance(Malay's Traditional Dance)

Then the Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and theYouth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman came. They was escorted by a band.

After that the Deputy Prime Minister gave speech and he advised the youths in his speech to Trust in your instincts and let it lead you to the right path. He also said said life is about making choices and that is what youths should do when faced with problems. Then he launched the programme, there were fireworks display.

As the programme continued, we left as we were hungry and tired of standing. All of us had alot of fun there.

United lay down a marker to the rest of the country by knocking five past Fulham in a thrilling attacking display in their first game of the season at Old Trafford.

- Blues slip up almost immediately

A set of midweek fixtures follows hot on the heels of the opening weekend, and Wednesday 23 August turns out to be a good night for the Reds as United win at Charlton and Chelsea lose at Middlesbrough.

- Gunners upset the applecart

Four straight victories keep United on top of the league until Sunday 17 September, when a defeat at home to old foes Arsenal allows Portsmouth to leapfrog us in the table. At least we're still ahead of Chelsea only just on goal difference.- But not for longAnother wobble in the league as United draw away at newly-promoted Reading. A win over Fulham in the west London derby lifts Chelsea two points clear at the top of the Premiership. Incredibly, it turns out to be the only time Chelsea will end the weekend on top of the league and the last time United don't.

Chelsea go down 2-0 at Liverpool on 20 January and a Thierry Henry injury-time winner means United suffer defeat as well on their first visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea cut United's lead to after 3 points after narrowly beating Charlton Athletic. But the Reds reply with an impressive 4-0 win at Spurs.

With United again kicking off early and doing their job with a 4-1 win over Blackburn after coming from behind, Chelsea look like slipping up away to lowly Watford, but a last-gasp winner from Solomon Kalou keeps them in the title race.

- South coast horror show

United slip up away at Pompey 2-1. Chelsea had already gained revenge on Spurs with a 1-0 win and so cut the gap to three points.

- The pressure mounts

United's draw with Middlesbrough on 21 April makes the gap 4 points but it could be cut to one if Chelsea beat Newcastle the next day. Thankfully, they don't, drawing 0-0, meaning the gap is still 3.

- Drama, drama, drama

Both United and Chelsea kick-off at the same time - the Reds at Goodison Park and the Blues at home to Bolton. The title chasing pair both go behind in the opening minutes. Chelsea draw level and are 2-1 up at the break. United meanwhile find themselves 2-0 down not long after the restart. Fast forward 40 minutes and incredibly United are winning 4-2, while Chelsea are held 2-2 by the Trotters - United's lead is now 5 points after an unbelievable day in the Premiership.

- Champions!

A Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and a brilliant save by Edwin van der Sar from Darius Vassell's spot-kick late on puts United 8 points ahead on 5 May. Twenty-four hours later Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal and the Red Devils are crowned Premiership champions for the ninth time.

The Dastar (Turban/Pag) of the Sikhs

I read this interesting article on THE SIKH magazine (SNSM). Its just for all of you who wants to know about the Historical Background and the Holiness and Spirituality of the Dastar. This will be a good tool as it may help those who wants to tell the others on why is he wearing a Turban.

The Dastar is and has been an inseparable part of the Sikh's life. Since Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhi, all Sikhs have been wearing Dastars. Refer to Dr. Trilochan Singh's "Biography of Guru Nanak Dev Ji." The Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh Code of Conduct) specifically says that all Sikhs must wear a Dastar.

Bhai Nand Lal Ji says, " Kangha dono vakt kar, pag chune kar bandhai."

Translation: "Comb your hair twice a day and tie your turban (Dastar) with care, layer by layer."

Several ancient Sikh Documents refer to the order of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji about wearing a Dastar. Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu is one of the most famous ancient historians. He is the author of " Shri Gur Panth Parkash" wich he wrote almost two centuries ago. He writes, " Doi vele utth bandhyo dastare, pahar aatth rakhyo shastar sambhare. Kesan ki kijo pritpal, nah(i) ustran se katyo vaal".

Translation: " Tie your turban (Dastar) twice a day with care maintain your shastar 24 hours a day. Take good care of your hair and do not cut your hair." ("sri guru granth prakash" page 78)

The following information describes the importance of Dastar!

The Dastar is symbol of spirituality and holiness in Sikhi. When Sri Guru Ram Das Ji left for heavenly abode, his elder son Prithi Chand wore a Dastar, which is usually worn by an elder son when his father passes away. (In the same manner) Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji was honoured with the Dastar of Guruship.

"Marne di pag Pirthiye bandhi. Guriyaee pag Arjan Ladhi." ("Partakh Hari, Jiwni Guru Arjan Dev Ji," by Principal Satbir Singh)

Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji honoured Sri Guru Amar Das Ji with Dastar when he was made the Guru. The most revered possesion of a Sikh is kesh (Hair). The Dastar is required of every Sikh in order to cover kesh. This is the primary reason the comb (Kangha) is one of the five requirements in the Sikh Way of life.

All the Sikh Gurus wore a Dastar. Throughout our short history, all Sikhs have been requred to do so. The Dastar has indeed become syninymous with Sikhi.

" THE DASTAR IS OUR GURU'S GIFT TO US. IT IS HOW WE CROWN OURSLEVES AND SIT ON THE THRONE OF COMMITMENT TO OUR OWN HIGHER CONCIOUSNESS "

Kampar Trip

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
First of all as usual I would like to apologize for not updating my blog as I was not feeling well this past one week.
On Friday I got this opportunity to follow my fellow friends to Kampar Gurdwara for a Kirtan Semagam. We went there by Sabha Van. We had fun all the way there as all of us tried solving a few IQ questions. As it turns out to be Baby was the smartest among all of us as he manages to answer many tricky questions. Lolz

~ On The way~

We reached there around 8.00pm. Then we had our langgar as we were hungry. After the Granthi Ji’s kirtan, Jasbeyanti did an excellent Simran Session. It was power pack. Then we had the Nikiten Jatha lead by Palvinder and Veer Mahabeer did kirtan and katha. Palvinder did the shabad Rehm Teri Sukh Paya and veerji gave the katha on the Shabad.

Later it was the finale with Akj Jatha, lead by Veer Rasvinder. They did the kirtan with rajkhey aur ghajkey dey naal. It was cekap. Watch the video below, sorry its not so clear as it was taken with handphone.

The next day in the morning, all of us went to swim at a waterfall nearby. This was all planed by Sukhvin and his brother. They took care of the KL people. They even prepared food to be eaten at the waterfall. The trip to the waterfall from the Gurdwara was about 15 minutes. We left around 10.30. We had to go through 15 minutes walk through the jungle to reach to the waterfall.

When Navjeet and Baby saw the waterfall only, they straight away changed and dived into the cold water. We enjoyed as the water’s flow on the top was fast and nice. We even played chopping and Water Polo. We had a friendly water polo game between Perak team and the KL team. As usual the KL team won, we wacked the Perak team 8-2.
We didn’t realize the time was getting late, as we were busy enjoying in the water. We came out around 2.30pm.
Then we came back to the Gurdwara, wash up and left to KL. We were very exhausted and tired but we enjoyed ourselves.

I was very very happy today as Manchester United trash As Roma 7-1 and they qualified to the semi final 8-3 on aggregate. This scoreline is dedicated to those other team fans that think Manchester United are not good as they lost last week 2-1. This is to teach them a lesson to not to look down at Manchester United, as we are the Red Devils.

The game was fantastic as the goal's keep on coming. A goal behind from the first leg, Sir Alex Ferguson's men blew their opponents away with four first-half strikes from Michael Carrick, Alan Smith, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Further efforts after the break from Ronaldo, Carrick and Patrice Evra completed a remarkable 8-3 aggregate success for a United team who will fear neither prospective semi-final opponent, AC Milan or FC Bayern München, after this display.

Cristiano Ronaldo was in unstoppable form, scoring a goal either side of half-time.

Police Day & Clean Up Session

What an interesting Sunday i had, first of all there was Police Day in Police Depoh Gurdwara. It was to mark 200th anniversary of the Police force. See the full report in The Star Newspaper.

After that, a few Youths gather at sabha house in the evening to clean the carpets that was used in the Cheras Semagam. It was a fun and havoc session as we did sewa while doing some pangey here and there.

The picture above is one of the pangey we took. We dress SOMEONE up with the girls costume and asked him to walk outside Sabha House and to the market.. haha. It was laughter all the way. Just watch the video below.

Warm someone's heart today... it costs nothing but does wonders to that person

I received this interesting story about changing someones heart. I know the story looks very long but dont hesitate to read it. Sit in a quite place and read it. Its very lovable and touching.

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However,that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition,Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... he is a joy to be around.."

His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle.'

His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest, and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class."

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's.

His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume.

But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, " Mrs.Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to."

After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs.Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets.."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times,he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs.Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer.... The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs.Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom.

Of course, Mrs.Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together. They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs.Thompson's ear,"Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference." Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

(For you that don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr. at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.)

Cracked Pots :: Lovely Story

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master's house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."
"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"
"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said. The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure. The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them.
For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without your being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house.

Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what she/he is, and look for the good in them.
There is a lot of good out there.

The Cheras Semagam this year was very Havoc. There were many Top Form Ragis. My favorite kirtani, Bhai Maninder Singh did power pack kirtan, as well as Bhai Sharanjeet Singh Thawar with his melodious tunes. and not forgetting the girls jatha from UK did great as well, as the girls voice was nice. The local jatha especially the Akhand Kirtani Jatha also did very Ghajkay. The pictures below highlights the events that happen during the programme.

Johor Kirtan Tour & IYC CHERAS

Last weekend Me, Sukhveer, Sukhvin went to Johore Bahru, as there was kirtan Darbar in conjunction with Vaisakhi (Southern Region).

We drove the Ragis there. We left on Saturday and came back on Sunday. We took Bhai Maninder Singh and Bhai Ram Singh and went. It was fun all the way there. Bhai Maninder Singh and his jatha was very funny and jovioul people.

The Kirtan timing there was at 7.00pm. The kirtan and katha was good. Bhai Maninder Singh did my favorite shabad wich was SO KION VISREY MERI MAEE.(Click here to download)

At nite we went to eat the popular dish in JB wich was Tauhu Bakar. Normally everytime we go there we sure we will eat this and come back. Tha taste is just delicious.

The next day we woke up for Asa Di Waar, it was done by Bhai Makhan Singh. He sang the Asa Di Waar with love. It was very very nice and melodius. After that the local jatha did kirtan and then followed by the other ragi jatha.

We also opened up sabha shope there and the demand for cd's were good. On the way back in the van, the Ragis played Gurbani Antakshree. It was fun as it test how many shabad we know and we also can learn new one as well.

If you didnt had a chance to hear these ragi jatha, make sure to attend the Vaisakhi Grand Programme in IYC, Cheras. It is one awoseme programme that cannot be missed by anyone.

Happy Birthday Navjeet

I just only came back from my best friends suprise birthday party. It was Navjeet Singh birthday and all the boys decided to throw him a suprise party. The picture below also i think gives the conclusion already on what happen to him.. hehe

He came to hang around in the park and he didnt knew that we were all there waiting to ambush him. Haha, we attacked him with eggs and flour. It was fun and he was suprised to see us there. He was so nice that he did not get angry that we threw eggs and flour on him. Then we sang the Happy Birthday song and he cut the cake and later we went out to eat.

He told me that make sure his pictures dont come to my blog and i simply uploaded this for him. :)

Kampar Mini Samelan

Last weekend, I went for a weekend mini samelan at Kampar Gurdwara. I went there with my 2 friends Jagjit and Baljit. All they way to the samelan I heard fantastic katha by them. We were just disscussing about Sikhi. We reached there at late night and all the participants were sleeping by that time ready.
In the morning we had Japji Sahib. Then we had our Nashta, followed by the Nishan Sahib Selami. There were about 30 participants that attanded the Samelan. After that we had the classroom session. It was handled by veer Tarminder and Baljit. They talked about the Sakhi's of the Guru and linked it with our daily lives.
After that we had the IPS. It was done by Sukhsimran Kaur. She sang the theme shabad, and then Baljit gave the meaning of the shabad Gursikh Meet Chalo Gur Chalee. It was a great katha given by him. The langgar in the afternoon was top form. We had Nasi Lemak Kampar Style and Ice Cream. It was delicious.
After that I left to Cameron Highlands with Phobinder to pick up a Ragi Jatha. I went all the way up to Tanah Rata just for 10 minutes and come back down. Hehe, wat a tiring journey. Then after that we came back to Kuala Lumpur and we pass on the baton to Navjeet and gang to continue the journey till Port Dickson and Melaka Gurdwara.
I took some pictures with my new camera Olympus FE 170. Now at least i have a camera, and i can take pictures whereever i go.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
Finally i am back blogging online. First of all i would like to say that i am very very very Sorry for not updating my blog as my computer's motherboard got spoil and i could not update my blog. My Past 3 weeks was very very havoc.

Firstly during the Chinese New Year, i went for the Nikiten Annual Samelan at Batu Gajah. It was one of the best Samelan as i learn alot. Our journey to the Samelan grounds from PJ gurdwara took us about 6 to 7 hours, that was very very long as there was terrible traffic jam. but i was not bored in the bus as i slept most of the time. haha.. The Gurdwara is very big and beautiful as it has been renovated since the last time i went there. We went there and registered ourselfs at 2 am. Then what somemore, went to the dorms and continue my sleep. In the morning there was the First Inspiration Session and it was done by veer Rasvinder Singh with his superb voice. Later after that we were divided into 5 groups wich were named Bhai Bidhi Chand Ji, Bhai Bota Singh & Bhai Garja Singh Ji, Bhai Lakhsman Singh Ji, Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal and Bibi Sharan kaur. I was in group 4, and the sikh personality that we got is Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal. My jatha was very very havoc, as we were led by Veer Harwinder Singh. Then we selected our leftenan for our jatha, and we selected our best man Palvinder Singh as our leftenan. We also had Drama competiton, and our jatha did a drama about One Baba who gets angry very fast. It was damm funny. We also had a touring session, there were 5 checkpoints. It was nice as we learnt about Langgar Maryada, Sadh Sangat, Sewa and many other more. The Langgar was Top Form, as we also had Ice Cream Day, Fruits Day and Choclate Day. hehe

After the samelan, i went for Hiking at Gunung Tahan. It was another havoc trip. I will update about it next time as i am waiting for the pictures.

After the Hiking, it was busy preparation as it was Holla Mahala Games that time. Me helped around the Police Gurdwara team. There were 19 teams that took part in the Holla Mahala Games. Our team did quite well as this was our first time participating as a full team. The football team played very good but we lost to the best team, PJ. All of us were very happy as Police Gurdwara won the overall title for the Strategy Games. All thanks to Amritpal(the scrabble champion) and Manjeet & Shavin ( the Carrom winners). I would like to thank the Penji , Ajeet, Navjeet, Harpal, Phobinder, Param & the others that supported me all the way. Next year we will do better as Jagjit will be joining us to make a strong team and win the overall champions. hehe.

As usual, during every first saturday of the month, there will be a jaap session at Subang Darbar.

The previous Jaap session was awesome, Bhavbhanjan phenji did Simran, then there was a small video clip where Guruka Singh spoke bout folding hands after which veerji Palle( Malaysian version of Bhai Niranjan Singh) continued from there..it was really blissful..

The upcoming one will be much more nicer if you could come and join in the Sadh Sangat and chant together and feel the vibration of Sangat.

P/S - I wont be updating my blog for the next one week as i will be off to Batu Gajah for the Nikiten Samelan. And rite after that, i would be going for hiking at Gunung Tahan,Pahang for 6 days. Cant wait to stay and experience the jungle.. hehe..

And i would like to wish Happy Holidays to all Malaysian. and also Happy Chinese New Year to My Fellow Chinese Friends. Take Care...

Happy Valentines Day

Love is in the Air..Lolz, that is what i have been hearing from my friends all day long. While everyone was busy dating, I who am still single (hehe) celebrated my valentine with Waheguru and also not forgetting my motorbike... haha.. I know it sounds abit weird but i bought my motorbike Kriss 100, last year also on Valentines Day.. I love my motorbike as it has taken me to alot places, everytime i will get a chance to Gurdwara, Sabha House and many other places..So i celebrated my Valentine with my bike and i went to Sabha House as they were preparing to post out the new Sabha Magazine. The Magazine is very nice and insporational. I will post the magazine as a e-book soon so that everyone will get a chance of reading about the Malaysian Sikhs and the activities.

As it is Valentines Day today i remembered of this 1 story wich has amaized me. This story has shown that God is Love and Love is God. It is about the love of Shri Guru Amar Das Ji with Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji. ( Make Sure You read it, This is What you call as a Valentine)

Totally immersed day and night in continuous holy service of His beloved Satguru, aged Sri Guru Amar Das Ji also used to fetch a pitcher of water from the distant river Beas every night for the bath of Sri Guru Angad Sahib.

It was during the 12th year of this unparalleled and unique service that on a dark and stormy night, on His way back, Sri Guru Amar Das Ji’s foot got entangled in a weaver’s stump, and He fell into a weaving pit. Guru Amar Das Ji fell but did not let the pitcher fall.

On hearing the thud of the fall, weaver’s wife had remarked, “Who else it could be except Amaroo Nathawan (the homeless).”

The Knower of all Hearts, Sri Guru Nanak Sahib the Second asked Sri Guru Amar Das Ji on His return, “Purkha Ji, You are slightly late today.” The Humility Incarnate Guru Amar Das Ji begged for forgiveness in His characteristic humility with folded hands and submitted while weeping, “Sachey Patsha, Mistake will not recur again.” This question was repeated thrice by Sri Guru Angad Sahib, and Sri Guru Amar Das Ji apologized every time, with the same pathetic appeal for Mercy.

Sri Guru Angad Sahib took His Most Beloved Disciple in His Holy arms and clasped Him to His bosom. He made Him sit on wooden stool on which He Himself used to take bath daily.

Sri Guru Angad Sahib, who was thus bathing daily in the overflowing Prema – pure love of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji could restrain Himself no more and on this auspicious day, He in return bathed Sri Guru Amar Das Ji in the streaming overflow of His own love for Sri Guru Amar Das Ji. Sri Guru Angad Sahib’s love for Sri Guru Amar Das Ji melted down in precious tears through His holy eyes and stormed in holy bath the Holiest of the Holy, Sri Guru Amar Das Ji. Separate individualities had altogether ceased. Prema-Bhakti had reached a climax and assumed a wonderful state of sublimity. Love-Divine and the Lover-Divine had dissolved into the Divine Beloved Lord.

This Shows that Satguru eternally bathes with utmost spiritual delight, in the nectar of divine love always flowing from the saturated hearts and perpetual wet eyes of his beloved devotees/sikhs. It was a unique and unprecedented return of that love by Sri Guru Angad Sahib.

The Morale:

How wonderful and sublime is this love-relationship between the Guru and a true disciple! When a devotee has surrendered his all, dedicated every breath of his life to the Lotus Feet of his beloved Guru, pines every moment in the loving holy remembrance, the union of the lover and the beloved becomes eternal. Guru also pines for the devotee. Mysterious and unique is the love that exists between the Guru and his beloved sikh.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji

Yesterday (11/02/2007) the Sikhs celebrated the 320th anniversary 'Birthday Of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji'. Below is a live story of the sahibzada taken from the Sabha Website. It is a nice summary as we who has same age as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji cannot do the wonders that he has done.

AJIT SINGH, SAHIBZADA (1687 - 1705), the eldest of four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, was born to Mata Jito ji (also known as Mata Sundari ji) at Paonta on 26 January 1687. The following year, Guru Gobind Singh returned with the family to Anandpur where Ajit Singh was brought up in the approved Sikh style.

He was taught the religious texts, philosophy and history, and had training in the manly arts such as riding, swordsmanship and archery. He grew up lato a handsome young man, strong, intelligent and a natural leader of men. Soon after the creation of the Khalsa on 30 March 1699, he had his first test of skill. A Sikh sangat coming from Pothohar, northwest Punjab, was attacked and looted on the way by the Ranghars of Nuh, a short distance from Anandpur across the River Sutlej. Guru Gobind Singh sent Sahibzada Ajit Singh, barely 12 years of age then, to that village. Ajit Singh at the head of 100 Sikhs reached there on 23 May 1699, punished the Ranghars and recovered the looted property. A harder task was entrusted to him the following year when the hill chiefs supported by imperial troops attacked Anandpur. Sahibzada Ajit Singh was made responsible for the defence of Taragarh Fort which became the first target of attack. This, according to the Bhatt Vahis, happened on 29 August 1700. Ajit Singh, assisted by Bhai Ude Singh, a seasoned soldier, repulsed the attack. He also fought valiantly in the battles of Nirmohgarh in October 1700. On 15 March 1701, a sangat, column of Sikh devotees, coming from Darap area (present Sialkot district) was waylaid by Gujjars and Ranghars. Sahibzada Ajit Singh led a successful expedition against them.

Once a Brahman came to Guru Gobind Singh’s darbar. He complained that his newly-wedded wife had been taken away by force by some Pathans of Bassi, near Hoshiarpur. Sahibzada Ajit Singh offered to help the Brahman to recover his wife. As instructed by Guru Gobind Singh,on 7 March 1703 he took out 100 horsemen to Bassi, near Hoshiarpur. With this band of young brave Sikhs, Baba Ajit Singh fell upon Bassi during the night. He arrested the Pathans responsible for the wicked deed. He recovered the Brahman’s wife. He took the wicked Pathans to Anandpur the following morning. The Brahman’s wife was restored to him. The wicked Pathans were punished, suitably and severely.

In the prolonged siege of Anandpur in 1705, Sahibzada Ajit Singh again displayed his qualities of courage and steadfastness. When, at last, Anandpur was vacated on the night of 5-6 December 1705, he was given command of the rearguard. As the besiegers, violating their solemn promises for a safe conduct to the evacuees, attacked the column, he stoutly engaged them on a hill feature called Shahi Tibbi until relieved by Bhai Ude Singh. Sahibzada Ajit Singh crossed the Sarsa, then in spate, along with his father, his younger brother, Jujhar Singh, and some fifty Sikhs. Further reduced in numbers by casualties at the hands of a pursuing troop from Ropar, the column reached Chamkaur in the evening of 6 December 1705, and took up position in a garhi, highwalled fortified house. The host, since swelled by reinforcements from Malerkotia and Sirhind and from among the local Ranghars and Gujjars, soon caught up with them and threw a tight ring around Chamkaur.

An unequal but grim battle commenced with the sunrise on 7 December 1705 in the words of Guru Gobind Singh's Zafamamah, a mere forty defying a hundred thousand (lakh). The besieged, after they had exhausted the meagre stock of ammunition and arrows, made sallies in batches of five each to engage the encircling host with sword and spear. Sahibzada Ajit Singh led one of the sallies and laid down his life fighting in the thick of the battle. He was 18 years old at the time of his supreme sacrifice for his faith. Gurdwara Qatalgarh now marks the spot where he fell, followed by Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, who led the next sally. An annual fair is held in commemoration of their martyrdoms on the 8th of the Bikrami month of Poh (December/January). The martyrdom of two of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh in the battle of Chamkaur is substantiated by a contemporary record in the form of an official letter preserved in a MS., AhkamiAlamgiriby Emperor Aurarigzib's official letter writer, Mirza 'Inayat Ullah Khan Ismi (1653-1725). The relevant extract from the MS., translated into English, reads:

Received the letter containing miscellaneous matters including the arrival of Gobind, the worshipper of Nanak, to a place 12 kos from Sirhind; the despatch of a force of 700 with artillery and other material; his being besieged and vanquished in the haveli [i.e. large walled house] of a zamindar of village Chamkaur and the killing of his two sons and other companions; and the capture of his mother and another son....

I also here and there thought to myself, What am I doing in this world??, nor i am doin good stuff and nor i am remembering The Creator. I also thought of giving up my life here and there but this story inspiried me to continue my life and to Meditate on the Naam. Read on..

One day I decided to quit... I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. "God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me…
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?" "Yes", I replied. "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo". He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit." He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."
He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they both make the forest beautiful." "Your time will come, "God said to me. " You will rise high!"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned.
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness. Bad days give you experiences. Both are essential to life. Keep going……………...

Hair - A Divine Gift

I was going through an article on the AKJ website about Bhai Randhir Singh Ji (while he was in the prison) on how much love he had for his hair given by Waheguru and how he mention about why should we keep the hair.
I summarised the story below..
Bhai Sahib took a "KESHI ISHNAAN' (washed his hair), and he wanted to apply oil on his hair, but the Prison Officer bought a poor quality and a cheap brand of hair-oil for Bhai Sahib to use. Bhai Sahib refused to accept it, and asked the prison officer to get a better quality hair-oil in replacement. Bhai Sahib was to comb his hair only after it had been softened with hair-oil in order to avoid damage to it. Without combing his hair, he was not going to take his meals. After four days, the Prison Officer told the Supritendent of a prisoner was on a protest in the form of a hunger-strike. The Supritendent came to see Bhai Sahib and talked with him. During the converstaion, The Supritendent asked a question about
IS IT NECESSARY TO KEEP LONG HAIR?’

(below is the conversation between Bhai Randhir Singh and The Supritendent)

Supdt: IS IT NECESSARY TO KEEP LONG HAIR?
Bhai Sahib: Is it necessary to keep the head on the human body?
Supdt: The body cannot survive without the head.
Bhai Sahib: If, however, it could survive, would you be willing to get rid of it? (If the body could survive without the head, would you remove the head?)
Supdt: The head is more important and is an integral part of the body. With the head the body becomes complete and without the head, body cannot survive at all.
Bhai Sahib: Have you placed the head on your body yourself?
Supdt: No, God has placed it there.
Bhai Sahib: Undoubtedly God has placed the head on your body. If, however, it were placed by you, perhaps, you could afford to remove it as an unwanted burden.
Supdt: Of course. But how can we remove or afford to get rid of something given to us by God?Bhai Sahib: Well, suppose, if someone removes that God-given head from the body, what would you call that person?
Supdt: Undoubtedly, he would be called a tyrant, oppressor, murderer and an assassin.
Bhai Sahib: If someone asks you questions as to why you have kept a head on your body, what will you think of him?
Supdt: It would be a sheer stupidity on the part of the questioner.
Bhai Sahib: Just the way, our heads are placed on our bodies by the Creator Himself, the same way, the hair on my head and yours as well, have been grown by the same God - the Creator. Therefore, your question regarding keeping of long hair is irrelevant in itself, because it is not I who has grown it there, but the hair is God\'s gift. Just as the head on the body is God\'s special gift, so is the hair given by Him. It is our first and foremost duty to look after the hair (God\'s gift) as we would like to look after and protect our head. Those who do not maintain God-given gift on the head, (cut off or completely shave off their hair), are, in my well-considered view, ungrateful and disloyal to the supreme will of God. I consider them murderers.
Supdt: No, they cannot be called so, you can give them some other name, because in cutting hair no blood is spilt.
Bhai Sahib: You mean if blood is spilt, then alone it can be called a murder or assassination. What if someone is strangled to death? Would you still not declare it a murder, because in strangling a person, no blood is spilt, though death does occur? It is no use indulging in verbal arguments. You know very well that in certain methods of murder, not even a drop of blood is allowed to spill. Would you not call perpetrators of these crimes as murderers? If not, what else will you call them?

Project 2007 - Sarbat Da Bhela It gives us great pleasure to announce the launch of a special project for theyear 2007 - "Sarbat Da Bhela". On behalf of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Academy, we would like to invite you and loved ones to participate in this project.

Objective
The one and only objective of this Project to improve oneself through guidancefrom the greatest teacher, motivator and friend – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The project is designed for one to rely fully on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to improve oneself. The Academy’s role is merely to facilitate the process.

The entire project is based on:
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the greatest teacher, motivator and friend The availability of Sadhsangat facilitates the process of getting closer and applying the teachings of our Guru. Structure Participants to this project will receive one Shabad (in Gurmukhi and Romanised script) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji every week accompanied with an English translation. Participants are expected to recite, contemplate and attempt to apply the message of Guruji into their lives.
Hence, the objective for the week will be for the participant to recite this panghti daily at a time that is convenient and while reciting to contemplate on its meaning. And in the participants daily routine be it in school, college, office or at home, to apply the message of the Guru in one’s life. For the benefit of everybody and in line with the concept of Sangat – we strongly encourage participants to share their experiences and if they have questions to raise them in this Group, so that other participants can learn and maybe offer suggestions based on their personal experience.

Who Can Join
Any individual who has the faith that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the greatestteacher, motivator and friend. We have full faith that whosoever participates in this Project sincerely, will see a huge difference and improvement in ones life. This is simply because that Participant would have accepted and followed and applied Guruji’s teaching in his/her life.

Bhai Jeeta Singh and Raag

Bhai Jeeta Singh used to be a Raagi that would accompany Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. One time in Lahore, there was a Muslim Smagam for Raags. He, being a Raagi himself, was really curious what the muslim Raag smagam would be like. After, listening to some of the program he went up to the organizers and asked for their permission to get some time to do keertan because he knew shabads in Raag.
The muslims started laughing at him saying “you Sikhs haven’t been blessed with Raag, go get out of here and go do what you typically do…and…listen, we, muslims, are only blessed with Raag.”
Bhai Jeeta Singh got so hurt, he went all depressed to Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh and said, “Ji, today I got really embarassed.”
Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh said to him, “I want you for 40 days to stay in this room, food and clothes will be provided inside, for 40 days don’t leave this room and do 125,000 paths of Raag-Mala. Only after completing, this are you to come out”
Bhai Jeeta Singh did so as Baba Ji said, and then when the time came for another smagam, he went again. And again He asked them for time, surprisingly the parbandak decided to give him 2 minutes of their smagam time. He got on stage and after touching some keys in Basant Raag, the Harmonium started to play by itself and continued playing for the rest of the shabad!
He was given only 2 minutes, however the Raag took 4 hours to complete (because of the raas of the keertan no one wanted him to stop him and listened in complete amazement and silence).
The Muslims started saluting Bhai Jeeta Singh out loud at the smagam, and some came to him and said, that “God has blessed you people with Raag”.
Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Singh said “You were victorious today on behalf the Sikh Panth, ask for anything you want.” He said, “I do have one thing I really want, when my end comes, I want it to come while I am doing keertan.”
Baba Ji said “then that’s how it will be” The day Bhai Jeeta Singh left his body, he was sitting doing keertan in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s Hazoori. He was doing it so much love, he would lift his arm up affectionately, and while looking towards GuruJi he would recite “jio bhaavai thio raakh lai” and at that moment Bhai Jeeta Singh left his body.

Last year this interesting team named by PARLIAMENT GURDWARA was formed with the help of a few of the youths and the Logistic Guys to participate in this event. Our motive was to have fun while winning the games.
